Blue Jays Leave MLB Fans in Stitches With Hilarious Burn on Yankees After Beating Them Again

6 min read

For decades, the Yankees–Red Sox rivalry has defined the AL East, dripping with history, intensity, and iconic moments. But as the 2025 season unfolds, there’s a new thorn in the Yankees’ flesh, and it’s wearing blue. The Blue Jays are fast becoming New York’s most frustrating nemesis, not just in the standings, but in the storylines, the swagger, and now, even on social media. Notably, this season marks the first time since 2016 that the Yankees have lost two regular-season series to the Blue Jays.

Earlier this month, after being swept by Toronto, Yankees broadcasters defiantly insisted New York was still the better team. The Blue Jays, apparently, were listening. Fast forward to the second series, and Toronto has done it again. They handed the Yankees another humbling blow, and did so with their signature brand of subtle, sharp humor. Something that seemed to aim at New York’s glaring defensive struggles as well. So, with playoff implications looming and tensions rising, this rivalry may no longer be just a side note, especially as Bleacher Creatures are starting to feel the heat.

Something that caught all eyes from the Blue Jays-Yankees series is the dwindling defense of the Bombers. And the Blue Jays didn’t miss giving it back to the Yankees, where it hurts the most. “Here’s some good defence,” The Blue Jays’ X handle shared a small clip showing their fielding effort to dismiss Yankees’ Jorbit Vivas.

So, while the defense effort was commendable, the caption tells a larger story here. The story goes back to the first week of July when the Blue Jays swept the Yankees. While the Jays moved to the pole position in the AL East that time, it still didn’t impress Yankees announcer Michael Kay. For him, “The Blue Jays are not a first-place team.” However, what followed was a purely horror story for the Yankees.

The Yankees lost the series, slipped from the pole position, and fell short in the second series against the Jays as well. So yeah, this time Kay admitted that maybe he articulated it poorly. However, too late for the Blue Jays not to take a shot at the Yankees’ fumbling defense. The first two games against the Jays witnessed fielding misplays by Anthony Volpe and the bullpen blowing up. The trend continued in the third game, with Cody Bellinger being the one to be blamed for the latest 8-4 loss.

So, apart from winning the series, the Blue Jays came forward and shared a clip to show how it is done! Yes, a small tutorial about how good defense is done. Enough for the eagle-eyed MLB fans to catch the clue here…

MLB fans are left in splits by the Blue Jays’ antics

The consecutive series win against the Yankees might have driven the Jays’ social media admin into overdrive mode. Something that left the fans in stitches.

I love how you the social media team just punks the Yanks

In the last seven games between the Yankees and Blue Jays, the latter won six and missed out on one. But when it comes to their social media team, they are second to none. And the fans are loving it. “I love how you, the social media team, just punk the Yanks,” one fan commented. If you remember, the Jays’ social media team took an indirect jab at Volpe’s mistimed throw a day before. And now this… So, it seems like the Blue Jays’ social media admin is leading the fight off-field and doing that quite well.

The Jays’ social media admin’s performance is so good that the fans are demanding an MVP for the anonymous man! “Y’all need a raise for handling this series. Y’all are the real MVP for this entertainment.” Well, George Springer, with 0.877 OPS this season and a few nasty baserunning blunders, might be the face of the Jays within the foul lines. But the social media admin of the Blue Jays is offering a real dose of entertainment to the fans, which includes a few subtle and not-so-serious jabs at the rivals. Surely the Jays’ social media team deserves a pay rise.

So, a good effort from the social media team, but the original team on the field? “There is a clear difference in the defense between these two teams.” One user shared how the defense made all the difference between the Blue Jays and the Yankees in this series. For instance, the Yankees have incurred 12 errors in their last 10 games against the Blue Jays this season. In the third game, they committed 4 errors in the losing cause. On the other hand, we saw how the Blue Jays fielded to dismiss Vivas. So yeah, a clear difference between the two teams.

And guess what, the Blue Jays have not only made their mark against the Yankees, but they are at their top since the opening day this year. “Jays are on top of it this year!” One fan remarked how the Jays are different compared to their previous seasons. Reasons? Old-school baseball is paying dividends. They’ve capitalized on opponents’ miscues, like in the recent series over the Yankees, where Toronto exploited four NY errors en route to an 8-4 win. Also, the resurgence of Springer is driving the Jays. Winning team, as expected by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. earlier this season.

Well, keeping aside all the noise about the Blue Jays’ social media antics, the series is a learning case for the Yankees. “Gotta show them how it’s done,” one fan thinks the clip shared by the Jays should work as a case study for the Yankees about how it is done. However, for the Yankees, it’s the entire defense unit faltering. Fielding errors and bullpen blowing up are all contributing to the case. And then there’s individual factors like Volpe’s consecutive errors on the field. Notably, he is topping MLB with 12 errors.

Nevertheless, the Blue Jays have done what was expected of them, and the Yankees faltered. The next stop for the Yankees will be Yankee Stadium. Nothing could be better for them than to revise the clock by getting the better of their historical rival.
