BJ Penn Faces Serious Allegations as UFC Lightweight Floats Theory On His Alleged Mental Health Issues

4 min read

UFC legend BJ Penn, one of the most revered personalities in the UFC, is in the once again but for all the negative reasons. It appears that he’s facing a severe decline concerning his mental faculties. While these reports have come to light, UFC fighter Jared Gordon has come out to make some serious allegations on Penn, involving drug abuse.

‘The Prodigy’ recently garnered attention for a bizarre post on social media, which involves his family. Penn, in that post, claimed that his mother Lorraine Shin isn’t actually his mother but an imposter, along with other accusations. However, all these bizarre statements, according to Jared Gordon, are actually a result of the former two-weight champ’s use of illegal substances, especially methamphetamine, which is quite rampantly available in his native state of Hawaii. While Gordon did mention that he never saw the legend do it, he caught wind of it through rumors and insider talks.

“What I have heard in the past and from rumors and things that I have heard… he [BJ Penn] had m*thamphetamine abuse disorder. But I’m sure he drinks and does others, smokes w**d, probably,” Jared Gordon told Home of Fight. “But m*th is huge out there [in Hawaii]. And knowing he’s acting the paranoia, like, the delusion, you know, just screams m*th.”

Jared Gordon seems to have pretty deep knowledge about the effects of using the aforementioned substance as he had his own history with substance, where now he is fully clean. The lightweight fighter was pretty convinced that more than the CTE as a result of long-term brain trauma, it’s the substance abuse that has gotten BJ Penn in the worrying state that he’s found himself in now. “Do I think that his history of concussions and brain trauma are also contributing to this? Yes, but drug abuse also plays a major role in extreme paranoia.”

Jared Gordon says he sees signs of m*th use in BJ Penn, linking it to his paranoia about the government replacing his mother.

In the meantime, BJ Penn’s accusation of his mother’s alleged imposter has reached all the corners of the MMA community. As such, UFC legend Chael Sonnen also weighed into this situation, suggesting that it may just be an act from the former UFC champion. Here’s what Sonnen had to say.

Chael Sonnen opines on BJ Penn’s current situation

Chael Sonnen has known BJ Penn for a long time, and his comments on his recent conspiracy theory seem to be worth a listen. ‘The American Gangster’ has observed everything the former two-weight UFC champion had to say about his mother being an imposter, but knowing the “performer” that Penn really is, citing a 2008 incident with Georges St-Pierre’s team, he highly doubts ‘The Prodigy’s claims hold any truth at all.

“I just know that I have seen BJ perform before. And he’s a very good performer. That would break my heart if this were true. It was 2008 when this happened, was it a letter BJ claimed that he revived, but it was from George [St-Pierre’s] team, no plant in George St-Pierre’s team? I knew the whole thing was a work and I’ve known him too long… Now if there’s something more sinister here that we have to deal with, perhaps I’ll have to come back and do a rebuttal to this. But for now, you’re dealing with a very smart guy who was a promoter himself at one point,” Chael Sonnen stated in a video on social media.

It’s certainly a sad sight for the fans and the whole MMA community to witness such a decline in a fighter who was once untouchable inside the Octagon. But assessing what Jared Gordon had to say, what do you make of the whole situation with BJ Penn? Drop your comments below.
