Things are running wild at Gainesville. Imagine being a seasoned football warrior who’s refused to let the usual rules or repeated injuries define his journey. Most college players hung up their cleats after four or five years. However, there is this Gators’ safety, who is gearing up for an almost mythical seventh season with the Florida Gators. From his days in Washington to swapping coasts for Florida. This athlete has become almost as well-acquainted with the operating room as he is with the end zone.
We’re talking three wrist or hand surgeries, a recent hamstring operation after a tough break in the Miami game, and more rehab sessions than probably any Gator in history. With the help of coach Billy Napier, who made it clear that Florida supports its players way beyond the field. DB Asa Turner found encouragement to go all-in for a seventh year.
But, like always, there is a catch, and a major one. In a recent update, Napier confirmed that Turner is stepping away from football entirely. Turner is off the Florida roster and will be retiring from playing due to his ongoing injury issues. As per Coach Napier, “DB Asa Turner is stepping away from football and transitioning into his post-football life.” Ultimately, Napier indicated that the physical toll on Turner was just too much to overcome and that this retirement was the right move for him.

Turner had received his 7th year of eligibility and was reported to play for UF this year.
