Big Retirement Update Hits NFL as Dak Prescott Pays Tribute to Cowboys Legend After End of 14-Year Pro Career

Back in 2011, the Cowboys took a chance on a 20-year-old USC tackle named Tyron Smith. He was the youngest player in the league that year, but you wouldn’t have known it watching him. By 2014, he’d locked down an eight-year, $109 million extension. Fast forward, and Smith’s been the quiet cornerstone, protecting quarterbacks and anchoring the offense with a consistency that’s rare in the NFL. BUT….

And now, after spending 14 seasons in the NFL, the 34-year-old OT decided to hang up his cleats. The NFL shared his retirement news on their official IG handle writing, “Longtime Cowboys LT Tyron Smith to retire after 14 seasons in NFL.” Right after that went down, the Cowboys players and his former teammates paid tribute to one of the best OTs in the league.
