“I didn’t think the whole content creation-influencer thing was for me,” Ayan Broomfield once said when asked about her journey. Broomfield, the player-turned-influencer from Canada, has had a very interesting journey. Transitioning into the role of a content creator after being an NCAA doubles national champion, she has come a long way. The 27-year-old, who has been in a relationship with the American tennis star Frances Tiafoe since 2015, uses her platforms to promote equality and guide people to become their “best self, inside and out.” In February, she came up with her podcast as well named Glowing Up. And, no prizes for guessing who is backing her newly launched endeavor. Well, of course, it’s Big Foe- the ever-so-supportive boyfriend.
Frances Tiafoe and Ayan Broomfield have been together for almost a decade and are one of the power couples in the tennis circuit. But how did they meet each other? In a previous interview, Broomfield revealed, “We both played junior tennis at a very high level. I’m from Canada, so I was playing for my country, Frances was playing for the States. And then one of our mutual friends was like, ‘Well, you guys actually would be really good friends.’ So we started talking then and became best friends for a bit. It’s been eight, nine years now. It’s been a journey.”
Who was that mutual friend, though? In a recent episode of the Tennis Channel’s ‘Second Serve’, Broomfield opened up about that as well. “Actually, a former player named Victoria Duval, she knew both of us individually and she kind of peeped in Frances’ ear and said, ‘I think you guys would be fun together, I think you would have a good time.’ And so, Frances reached out, and we became friends for about six months,” she revealed. “We always tell her (Victoria), ‘You’ll be at the wedding.’ Are Tiafoe and Broomfield planning to tie the knot anytime soon, though?
Well, they haven’t confirmed anything, but these two never shy away from showering their love and support for each other publicly! On Valentine’s Day this year, Broomfield dropped a romantic three-word message on Tiafoe’s post, which was captioned, “Happy v day to my day one. I love you baby and I’m sooo thankful for you everyday damn day. My rock, my everything @ayan.broomfield .”
Recently, when Broomfield shared an IG post about her podcast (released on February 18) talking about the importance of probiotics, Tiafoe was among the first ones to drop a reaction on that. He wrote, “” in the comment section and then shared that post on his IG story with the caption, “ @ayan.broomfield.“
Tiafoe has never shied away from showcasing his love for his girlfriend publicly. In 2023, when Broomfield took to her IG handle to express her pride about Tiafoe breaking into the men’s top 10 following his emphatic triumph at the Stuttgart Open, the American star reciprocated the love and highlighted how big the contribution of Broomfield was in his career.

Not only as my girl but my best friend and my go-to. You mean more to me than you can ever imagine. I love you with all I got. See you soon bb.”
Tiafoe often showcases his admiration for Broomfield by commenting on her social media posts. Be it her photoshoot for the Wilson sportswear collection or off-White’s Spring 2025, ‘Big Foe’ never misses a chance to shower his love on the girl who made the biggest impact in his life. Does Broomfield’s tennis background help her understand her boyfriend better? Well yes!
In that same episode of Tennis Channel’s Second Serve, Broomfield revealed, “I think having a tennis background helps a lot because we can understand each other; I understand what he’s going through and we can actually talk about tennis and break down the game.” Is it tough to see him go through the ups and downs from the sidelines? “I would say I’m hectic on the inside and hectic on the outside.”
Frances Tiafoe didn’t have a great start to his season in 2025, but after his horrid campaign at the Indian Wells, Broomfield ensured he had company to cope with the shocking early exit.
Despite his poor start to the season, though, Tiafoe has now entered the Houston final for the third consecutive year after defeating his compatriot Brandon Nakshima in the SF by 6-4,7-6(3). With this win, he has now become the fourth player to make at least three straight championship matches in Houston.
