We’re a month into the NCAA gymnastics season, but things aren’t going all too well for Stanford. Last year, they wrapped up the season with a decent fifth spot on the final ranking chart. But this time, they’ve slipped down to 13th place already. Perhaps the presence of an Olympian gymnast could have played a major role, had she not announced to redshirt her 2025 season. But for now, she has dropped the latest update on her health, which has gymnastics fans rallying behind her with support.
We’re talking about Stanford gymnastics star Levi Jung Ruivivar, who took to social media three weeks ago and resigned from the season. She did so to take her time and heal from an eating disorder (ED) she’d been facing because “it was pulling an abundant amount of mental and physical energy away from the things I hold dear.” Although Jung Ruivivar had assured her fans that she’d be back before the spring quarter starts. And, now we know how she is currently working towards that goal.
On February 13, Levi Jung Ruivivar took to TikTok and shared a video of a regular day in her life. It gave the fans a rundown of how she’s been managing her health lately: “Just another day in my ED treatment: taking naps, living in my comfy, reading, working on my knitting.” She also sounded quite optimistic in the caption, “Guys it’s going well [heart emoji],” which was a major sigh of relief for the gymnastics fans. No wonder one of them had a heartwarming reaction, “ED treatment is so, so challenging. I’m so glad she’s doing well.”
Just last, when Stanford gymnastics star Levi Jung Ruivivar revealed her health condition, she confessed how unforgiving eating disorders can actually feel. She said, “For those who may not know a lot about eating disorders, there are many different kinds and the severity of them differs, however, they truly negatively impact one’s mind and body.” But, its great to see that now, Jung Ruivivar’s at least found a way to balance it. She’s indulging in activities like knitting that can be therapeutic and stress relieving while at the same time, giving her mind and body the much-needed rest.
Luckily, it looks like Levi Jung Ruivivar took the right call at the right time. Although her time at Stanford was going well as she was loving both school and gymnastics, she was not oblivious to the fact that her eating disorder ‘was infringing on her ability to fully enjoy these aspects.’ Thus she took a stand and retreated from the 2025 season, which saw notable gymnasts like Hezly Rivera, Skye Blakely, and Konnor McClain supporting her stance. And today, as her fans find her in a relatively better place, they continue to give her a much-needed boost. Here’s how the gymnastics community has been reacting.
