Jon Jones and his UFC inactivity have become a topic of major concern among fans and the whole MMA community. He’s the current undisputed champion, but has been allegedly delaying the potential fight against interim champion Tom Aspinall to unify the heavyweight titles. That’s the fight that Dana White wants to book, claiming it to be potentially the biggest fight in company history, but it seems like it may never happen.
After Jon Jones confirmed that he’ll be busy shooting a reality show, a Russian version of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ called ‘ALF Global Reality’, opposite Nate Diaz, and is now in Thailand for the show. He’s been seen enjoying his time out there, with some people already starting to doubt whether Jones will ever come back for another fight. Well, that doesn’t seem to matter much to Tom Aspinall, who’s hellbent on winning the undisputed title regardless of who holds the belt when he’s taking it.
Nevertheless, a fight against Jon Jones will not only help him make good money but also be the biggest name in Tom Aspinall’s resume. So yes, getting to fight the consensus greatest of all time won’t be a bad idea. After all, Aspinall has a chance to hand ‘Bones’ the first clean defeat in his professional career while attempting to become champion. However, the road may be coming to an end for Jon Jones as he made a confession to one of his old friends and former MMA fighter, Kamil Gadzhiev.
While hanging out with some people, Jon Jones caught up with Kamil Gadzhiev, who, in 2013, invited Jon Jones to Dagestan. They re-united over a phone call when Gadzhiev wondered how ‘Bones’ was still fighting, even after more than a decade since they last met. “You’re still active. Ten years left,” the Dagestan native stated. Well, what Jones responded with may not be to Tom Aspinall or Dana White’s liking. “No, no. I’m done. I’m done,” the undisputed UFC champion replied.
Jon Jones: ‘I’m done. I’m done.’”
Kamil Gadzhiev tells Jon Jones over FaceTime that the last time they met was 10 years ago — and Jon is still active.
To which Jon replies: “I’m done.”

Well, there has been no official announcement about Jon Jones summing up his UFC career as of now, so we still can’t be sure of what the reality of that statement is. And while we’re waiting to see if he fights Tom Aspinall or not, the English fighter recently gave his take regarding the reason why the fight isn’t materializing. Here’s what he had to say.
Tom Aspinall reveals the reason why the Jon Jones fight is not taking place
Ever since Tom Aspinall dropped the “Hello, Jon” line during his UFC 304 Octagon interview, fans started believing that the fight against Jon Jones is a lock. Many months in, there’s no update, and the only thing Dana White told the fans was to “relax,” assuring them that the fight will happen soon. Meanwhile, Aspinall hasn’t been able to dodge questions about his potential fight against Jones and was hit with the same during a recent interview.
While the whole MMA fandom has been calling Jon Jones a ‘duck’ for avoiding Tom Aspinall, that doesn’t seem to be the case for the interim heavyweight champion. In fact, he believes that the undisputed champion is pretty serious about his demand for the “f— you money” payout, and maybe that’s what’s holding up their impending heavyweight superfight.
“[Jones] doesn’t want to take the risk at the moment… Me, personally, I can’t do anything. I think it’s just down to money, I think on his side. So, I will fight whenever, wherever he wants, but it’s down to money, I think,” Tom Aspinall stated during his appearance on the ‘High Performance’ podcast. Well, according to Jon Jones’ recent statement, it seems like he and the UFC may not have come to an agreement since he appears to be calling it a career. What do you think? Is Jones really ‘done’ with fighting? Drop your comments below.
