Even before his retirement, the Bulls legend focused on promoting the product. His next promotional tactic is to have Chess as part of the LA2028, thanks to his mutual connection.
“Not in the Olympics??? Casey can we do something about this???” The first few questions from the youngest MVP of the league were directed toward Casey Wasserman. The Chairman of LA 2028 and CEO of Wasserman, a leading sports and entertainment agency. His company represents Sue Bird, Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, and Derrick Rose alongside media personalities Kenny Smith and Mike Tirico. That’s why the Bulls legend wants Chess to be part of the next Olympics.
Pooh’s last statement in his story was, “We all seen the Breakdance ya did lol.” The sport received a lot of attention, both positive and negative, but it is not confirmed for any future Olympics at this time. Los Angeles did not opt for it to be included in their 2028 Summer Olympics. So, which sport will be included instead of breaking? The host city did, however, choose flag football and squash to make their Olympic debuts in 2028. But why not chess, you may ask?
Despite being considered to be one of the oldest games played, Chess has failed to make its way into the Olympics. The federation of chess, FIDE, have tried it but without any success. So, maybe a little help from the Chairman of LA 2028, Derrick Rose, calls for the game’s inclusion. As of now, LA2028 has a proposed budget for the games of $6.8 billion.

The 36-year-old announced a new tournament called ‘Chesstival.’ Plus, a prize pool of $147,500, which goes to show how much the former MVP wants to promote the sport to the masses. However, that event has yet to materialize. This could be the year when the event takes place; after all, the 3x NBA All-Star wants the next generation to be involved with it.

“Rose Chess. The Rose Club. This is a chess club I’m starting up, bro. Like getting kids to like critically think, bro. The only time kids critically think is when they about to cause harm on the m———-r. You know what I’m saying?” Derrick Rose wants sports to help kids escape violence by starting a chess club. “But seriously, about to cause harm though. Thinking that they’re gonna get away with some s—. In reality, you get caught and you’re using that energy in the wrong way.”
Now that he has retired from the game, Pooh can focus on other interests. He already transformed his former school, Simeon Career Academy, into the first Rose school in partnership with Adidas.
