Sergio Garcia is looking into the 2025 season with a ton of hope, especially when it comes to the Masters and his possible chance in the European Ryder Cup team. And he seems to know and understand the rules of the game as well. How? Well, by being good at his game. For instance, the golfer has swung it pretty well this season, starting with T6 at LIV Golf’s season opener in Riyadh. His best after that came with the Hong Kong win, a strong performance he maintained in the ongoing Miami event. Looking at this, you’d praise his form now that he’s heading into the Masters. However, someone else seems to have collected an emotional message this month.
And it’s Sergio Garcia’s father and coach, Victor Garcia. But the praises aren’t coming from the son but Carla Bernat Escuder, the 2025 ANWA champion. Surprised? Don’t be. We will look at why Escuder mentioned Garcia’s father. Currently active in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, Escuder sat down for the Trophy Presentation Interview in Georgia. The interviewer posed an interesting question. “We know Sergio had his moment here at Augusta National. How much does that add to what you were able to do here this afternoon?”
Carla Bernat Escuder answered thoughtfully. “I mean, it’s a good thing, definitely, that he was the last Spaniard to win here at Augusta. So yeah, I’m so thankful for him. He just helped me so much with my golf swing and even outside of the golf course, he’s always there for me. I wish he could be here, but he’s going to be here next week because one of my best friends playing in the Masters, too.” Victor Garcia has been pretty active in helping Escuder in her golf game. However, the coaching connection isn’t only limited to them, it extends to US Amateur champion Josele Ballester.
Interestingly, Victor Garcia is also the reason why Sergio Garcia’s game is so strong.
This is a developing story…
