The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am tournament on January 30th saw the return of some big names to the greens after lengthy injuries. Yes, we are talking about frenemies Jordan Spieth and Scottie Scheffler. Scottie Scheffler’s palm injury news is new, but Spieth, in particular, has been dealing with a nagging wrist injury since 2017. This also undoubtedly impacted his performance over these years.

Take his first few wins, for instance. The Texas pro won an impressive 11 titles in the first six years of his PGA Tour career. And how can we forget his signature toss at the final round of the 2017 Travelers Championship, which was also copied by his childhood friend, Justin Thomas at the $20M event. Yes, you read that right.

Justin Thomas, made headlines in the second round of the 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am when he holed out from 80 feet for an eagle at the par-5 18th hole. Not just that, the 15X PGA Tour winner, also snatched the limelight by throwing away the club in a similar way Speith did in his iconic 2017 Travelers Win. During the tournament, Jordan Spieth holed out from the bunker for birdie and won in sudden death on the par-4 18th hole.

But what about Spieth’s performance at Pebble Beach? Despite his claim he’s fully recovered from his wrist injury, the results suggest otherwise. In the second round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Spieth and Thomas were tied together, but their scores told a different story. Thomas sat at T13 with an impressive 8 under par, while Spieth struggled to keep up, holding the T62nd position with a total of 2 under par.

However, the real showstopper was Justin Thomas’s celebration after his incredible hole-out. And the internet couldn’t get enough of it!

Netizens spot Justin Thomas as he tries copying Jordan Spieth’s style

“Hang in JT! You’re playing great” said one fan, reflecting on Justin Thomas‘s winless era. Thomas has been struggling to snag a title since his 2022 PGA Championship. People even poked fun at him when he expressed his desire for a year like Scottie Scheffler’s last season. But if we look at his 2025 performances so far, the 14th world ranker seems determined to climb the leaderboard.

This sentiment was echoed by a social media user who commented, “Please golfing gods let JT come back in 2025. I need this.” As we always say, true fans notice everything.

Justin Thomas’s incredible shot on the 18th hole on January 31st caught the attention of netizens. “Speith style,” said one fan, while another added, “The fact he threw the club like Jordan at the Travelers while playing with Jordan is hilarious.”

A fan also reiterated what golf insiders at the Fore the Play podcast said: “Nothing better than watching JT play great.” We couldn’t agree more! Although Thomas hasn’t secured any titles yet, his scoreboard has been impressive, like his 2nd-place finish at the 2025 American Express with a total of 23 under par.
