The fates of the veteran Aaron Rodgers and rookie Shedeur Sanders are intertwined so that analysts can’t keep their eyes away from the scenario. Just yesterday, on the first day of the 2025 NFL Draft, they ignored the college athlete. Peter Schrager told everyone that the Steelers sent the right signals to A-Rod for not drafting the rookie. But is that the case? Not everyone in the Steelers camp agrees with his viewpoint. The Super Bowl winner visited them in disguise. It’s mere speculation.
While talking about Steelers Nation Radio on April 24 about the next stages of the draft, owner Art Rooney II revealed that they are eyeing a running back or quarterback. That might open the doors for college player Shedeur Sanders. The team ignored him in the first round despite the player praising him and calling them a great team.
When asked tonight what position the Steelers could address in the third round, team owner Art Rooney II indicated on @FoxSportsPGH, “Running back, maybe quarterback.”

It also means that A-Rod is not ready to commit further. The owner hinted at moving ahead from their fixation on Aaron Rodgers as he said, “We’re still getting the same signals we have been getting recently that he does want to come here. I do think we may get word soon. Obviously, with things starting to crank up here with the offseason program, etc., if he is coming, we would like to get him here soon for some of that.”
Stay tuned. There’s more to this story.
