Anthony Edwards’ Timberwolves Hit By Same Issue That Plagued Warriors During NBA Playoffs

2 min read

“If we take care of the ball, we win that game,” said Gary Payton II after the Golden State Warriors’ 106-96 loss to the Houston Rockets back in early April. Despite knowing this, however, turnovers continued to remain a major issue for the Bay Area franchise throughout their tournament run. They had the 5th most opponent turnovers by a team this season, with 1296, and ranked 7th in TOV%. That is not a problem for the team anymore, as they were eliminated in the Conference Semi-Finals. However, it is affecting the NBA Finals hopes for the same team that chucked them out of the tournament.

ESPN’s Dave McMenamin recently reported on the intense 1st quarter of Game 4 between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Minnesota Timberwolves. A major back-and-forth between the 2 teams still resulted in OKC leading by 37-30, aka a 7-point margin. The major reason behind this was the fact that Anthony Edwards and co had recorded 7 turnovers by the end of the quarter, while OKC only had 3. The fan account named ‘warriorsworld’ also noted this, and wrote “Wolves turnover problems are very GSW like”. Well, knowing how things ended for the Warriors, the Timberwolves should be more careful about taking care of the ball.
