Dale Earnhardt Jr. is one of the most beloved figures in NASCAR history. With his charismatic personality, Hall of Fame career, and deep connection to fans, he has remained a major presence in the sport even after stepping away from full-time racing. While his dominance on the track earned him millions of supporters, his off-track persona has only added to his popularity. Whether it’s through his Dale Jr. Download podcast or his behind-the-scenes moments as a family man, fans get to see the unfiltered version of Dale Jr. like never before.
However, being an open book has its drawbacks. In the age of social media and podcasts, every little detail of a driver’s personal life can become public knowledge. That’s exactly what happened when Amy Earnhardt, Dale Jr.’s wife, exposed one of his most embarrassing habits—one that their young daughters have now picked up on and are more than happy to call him out for.
Amy calls out Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s embarrassing habits
Living with an athlete brings surprises. But for Amy Earnhardt, some of Dale Jr.’s habits have been downright shocking. During the Ask Amy Earnhardt segment for the first episode of the couple’s new show ‘Bless Your ‘Hardt’, someone asked, “Have either of the girls ever roasted you with something they learned directly from Dale?” She responded instantly, laughing as she shared her thoughts.
“The girls are good at repeating anything to poke fun… I don’t know have they?, but they like to point their finger at you if they feel like you’ve done something… You’re kind of an easy target— with crumbs and farting and all the things. We’re three girls ganging up against one guy [Dale Jr.]. —” says Amy. Dale Jr. himself acknowledged that his family frequently gangs up on him for his impolite tendencies. He even admitted to being aware of the situation.
“Yeah, I get ganged up on with the ‘my fart stinks’ or something like that. I worry about that, like, because I fart, and they hear it on the couch. And I’m thinking I probably shouldn’t do that. Like, I don’t want them to think that farting—surely, they’re like—it’s built into your intuition as a female that you know not to be farting,” says Dale Jr. However, Amy reassured him that their daughters, Isla and Nicole, would likely grow out of the phase where they find farting hilarious.
Dale Earnhardt Jr, Amy Reimann
Notably, this isn’t the first time Amy has exposed Dale Jr.’s less-than-polite behavior. In a previous episode of the Dale Jr. Download, she shared a shocking (and hilarious) story from the early days of their relationship. Amy recalled the very first time she stayed at Dale Jr.’s condo. She walked into the bathroom to brush her teeth, only to find Dale Jr. sitting on the toilet behind her.
“I’m brushing my teeth and this man sits down behind me to take a number two,” Amy says. “And I turn around with my toothbrush in my mouth like, ‘What the hell?’ And he goes, ‘Oh yeah, this is the way it’s going to be, girl.’ I’m like, ‘The f–- it is! I am out!’” says Amy. However, Over the years, Amy has tried to influence Dale Jr.’s habits, particularly his diet and manners. But as she admits, some things will never change.
Despite the playful roasting he endures, Dale Jr. has a deep bond with his daughters. Isla Rose, his oldest, has already shown a strong interest in racing. She was gifted a go-kart for her third birthday and has been drawn to the sport ever since. Nicole Lorraine, the younger of the two, has also inherited her father’s passion for cars—sometimes in ways that catch Amy off guard.
In a recent Instagram story, Amy shared a moment when she caught Nicole sitting in Dale Jr.’s iRacing simulator. She was fully engaged, wearing a headset and attempting to mimic what her dad did behind the wheel. Even though Amy might not be fully on board with the racing bug infecting her daughters just yet, Dale Jr. couldn’t be happier. The Earnhardt family’s racing legacy lives on, and it seems his daughters are naturally drawn to it.
Dale Jr. reacts to Ty Gibbs and Justin Haley’s clash
Amid these hilarious family clashes, Dale Earnhardt Jr. also spoke about the NASCAR Clash. During Sunday’s Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) at Bowman Gray, Ty Gibbs, and Justin Haley got into a heated moment on track. In an aggressive move, Gibbs retaliated against Haley, hitting his car and briefly going airborne. The impact was intense, with Gibbs’ car lifting three tires off the ground before slamming back onto the track.
Dale Jr. discussed the incident on his Dale Jr. Download podcast, expressing his thoughts on the rough racing. He referenced a discussion on Door, Bumper, Clear, where Ryan Blaney mentioned how uncomfortable Gibbs’ landing must have been. “Yeah, I was listening to Door, Bumper, Clear, and Blaney talk about how that probably wasn’t very comfortable for him when he landed. It probably slammed down on the ground hard,” Dale Jr. says.
Despite the aggressive nature of the contact, Dale Jr. didn’t see it as crossing the line. “I think he was just trying to swerve and bang doors, which is fine. I don’t care,” he remarked. He further admitted that he was curious to see if NASCAR would penalize the move, but seemed unconcerned by the level of aggression. Do you think NASCAR should take action over the incident?
