Amen Thompson didn’t have to travel far for All-Star Weekend. After playing against the Warriors in his hometown on Thursday night, the Rockets’ young point guard was already in the Bay Area when the festivities kicked off on Friday.Even though he left years ago to chase his basketball dreams in Florida, the Bay still feels like home. That’s why this weekend wasn’t just another event for him—it was personal.
“I was really trying to make it to this event this year, just because it’s in the Bay and across the bridge (from where I grew up),” he said.
Amen is part of Team M of the Rising Stars for the All-Star weekend. If Amen can take charge and push his squad to the championship, he’ll get the chance to go up against Shaq’s OGs in Sunday’s All-Star Game. And which shoes is he going to do this in? Sabrina 2’s. That’s right the 20-year old was wearing Sabrina Ionescu’s shoes for the match against G League standouts.

And he did not disappoint. Thompson put on a scoring clinic in the Rising Stars game, leading his squad with 10 points on an efficient 5-of-6 shooting. He also chipped in with two rebounds and two assists, making his presence felt on both ends.
Well Ionescu might not be present for the 3-point contest, but Amen sure did bring her presence to the Bay Area.
This is a developing story…
