AI Predicts Winner of Leon Edwards vs. Sean Brady at UFC London

4 min read

The Ultimate Fighting Championship will return to London on March 22, 2025. And the Londoners will most likely cheer for their very own Leon Edwards, as he goes up against Sean Brady in the main event. But as the date for the matchup inches closer, the fighting community’s unrest is apparent. Most fight fans have but one question: Will the former welterweight champion get another chance at winning the championship belt?

To tackle this unrest, we asked artificial intelligence for its opinion and to help us predict the outcome of the main event at UFC Fight Night 255. Let’s take a look at what OpenAI’s ChatGPT had to say about it.

AI’s analysis regarding the fight between Leon Edwards and Sean Brady at UFC London

Of course, both Edwards and Brady are well-rounded fighters. First up, ‘Rocky’ has won 22 fights and faced defeat in 4. Out of his victories, he won 7 via KO/TKO and 3 via submissions. He has successfully established himself against strong opponents like Kamaru Usman, Colby Covington, and Nate Diaz. He is an elite kickboxer with strong clinch work. Edwards has been fighting professionally since 2011. This puts him at an advantage when it comes to his fight IQ and experience. After all, Brady began his professional MMA career in 2014. But when it comes to fighting pressure grapplers, Edwards usually faces a bit of trouble.

And that’s where Brady seems to shine. He has exceptional grappling prowess with a black belt in BJJ. His takedown game is pretty strong. According to UFC Stats, the American welterweight has a takedown accuracy of 52% and averages 3.49 takedown attempts per 15 minutes. On top of that, he has won 5 out of 17 victories via submissions. And his only defeat came at the hands of Belal Muhammad at UFC 280. Well, ‘Remember The Name’ overwhelmed Brady with punches that knocked him out cold in the second round of their bout. But he was able to stand his ground against a grappling-heavy Gilbert Burns to defeat him via unanimous decision.

Weighing in on the strengths and weaknesses of Leon Edwards and Brady, AI said, “This fight is a classic striker vs. grappler matchup. Leon Edwards has elite striking, excellent takedown defense, and championship experience. On the other hand, Sean Brady will try to take Edwards down and dominate him on the ground. If Brady can land takedowns early, he has a chance to control the fight and possibly secure a submission. But if Edwards can keep the fight standing, he will pick Brady apart with his striking and possibly win by late stoppage or decision.”

According to AI, both fighters have a strong stance against each other and there is arguably no way for the fight to be boring. So who has the higher probability of winning at UFC London? Let’s take a look at what AI had to say.

AI’s prediction for Edwards vs. Brady

With the strengths and weaknesses analyzed, ChatGPT predicted, “Edwards has improved his wrestling defense significantly, and Brady’s cardio may not hold up in later rounds. If Brady can secure takedowns early, he could steal rounds, but Edwards’ ability to keep the fight standing and outstrike him over five rounds gives him the edge. Final Call: Leon Edwards via Unanimous Decision (48-47, 49-46) or Late TKO (Round 4-5).”

Both Brady and Edwards have battled Muhammad, and both of them were unable to defeat the Palestinian champion. However, there was a neat difference in both their fights. Needless to say, we’re not considering the first fight between Edwards and Muhammad, which was overturned into a no-contest. In their second bout at UFC 304, Edwards stood strong and went on for the entirety of the 25 minutes. He not only defended Muhammad’s strikes but also refused to be submitted by the Palestinian champion. This proved that Edwards has bettered himself in terms of striking as well as grappling.

But on the other hand, Brady fell in the second round on the feet via TKO by Muhammad. Edwards also has better cardio than Brady. However, mixed martial arts is a sport where anything can happen at any given moment. With its unpredictable nature, we can’t be certain regarding the prediction. Therefore, we’ll have to wait for Saturday to see if AI’s prediction is right.
