With that, we can all sit and wait for Selection Sunday on March 16, 2025. But AI has decided to give us a small preview of which teams are the likely top 16 seeds. And believe me, it’s already looking like a very exciting ride. So let us now have a look at the teams that are the favorites to be at the forefront.
Even though the official bracket is yet to be unrolled, AI has analyzed the numbers to predict how the top teams will look in this year’s college basketball. It appears we have a wild tournament on our hands. With Auburn, Alabama and Duke sitting atop the heap as powerhouse teams. Although these are the teams being projected to top others, that doesn’t mean things cannot change from there. Speculation is always fun, and these projections are about as good an idea as we can get as to what March will bring.
Now, let’s discuss those No. 1 seeds that AI has predicted. Auburn, Alabama, Duke and Tennessee are leading right now. The teams involved in these have been playing some of the best basketball throughout the season and expect to remain top of the table barring major upsets.
And right behind the No. 1 seeds we’ve got Florida, Texas A&M, Kansas and Marquette to round out the No. 2 spots. They have promise and they will create noise in the tournament. They will be looking to lock in their positions and show that they deserve to be among the elite of the bracket as the season winds down.

Now in a fight for the hottest spots on the chart. The Final Four is the one place everyone is thinking about. The 2025 NCAA Tournament will end in San Antonio, Texas, at the Alamodome with the national title game on April 7, 2025.
Freshman factor drives this year’s men’s college basketball
This year’s men’s college basketball tournament is one of the most exciting with the amount of young talent that is set to shine. The 2025 NBA tournament is looking like a scout’s dream, with upwards of 15 freshmen expected to be in the top 40 draft prospects. Who knows? A few future NBA stars may shine when the lights are brightest.
Duke’s Cooper Flagg has been especially outstanding. Leading one of the top teams in the nation, Flagg is a runner for National Freshman of the Year as well. His performances have backed up the ranking of him as the top choice for the 2025 NBA draft. Liam McNeeley from UConn and Texas’s Tre Johnson, who have an average of over 19 points this season are among the most dynamic and entertaining freshmen this year.

The NCAA is also making a change to improve the experience even more. The usual tip time for the championship game has moved up slightly to 8:50 p.m. ET. It is hoped that this change will help to increase engagement, especially for East Coast fans.
And as the season goes on, it’s obvious that this road to the 2025 NCAA Men’s College Basketball Championship is not going to be straight. This tournament features top powerhouse teams. As well as young talent that intends to make its mark while on the bigger stage.
Whether it’s going to be a top contender or Cinderella story, the scene is set for another great ride. Considering only four more weekends stand between us and Selection Sunday, one thing is for sure: March Madness 2025 will be one for the books.
