In a candid conversation with Spurs legend Tony Parker, Chris Paul spoke about his retirement plans. “Maybe in a year or two, I’m still trying to figure out how I feel. At this point, what makes it harder is that I still love what I do. I love basketball and everything that goes with it.” Approaching the 40-year mark, the 12x All-Star has played 20 seasons in the NBA. CP3 has already started thinking about his post-retirement plans and recently cited Carmelo Anthony as one of his inspirations.
During the first-ever Players Honors, Melo received the award of the Entrepreneur Visionary Honor. After all, the Knicks legend has successfully managed his post-NBA plans with multiple ventures in different sectors. From his Creative 7, a multi-platform content company, to his VII(N) The Seventh Estate wine company. The 10x All-Star has amassed a net worth of $160 million. Even though Carmelo Anthony wasn’t present to receive the award, it was CP3 who shared a few words on his behalf.
“Can’t talk for Melo. Yeah! Melo like my brother, so I’m sure he would be very grateful to be here and receive this.” Chris Paul continued, “What Melo has done since retiring from the game is something that I look forward to doing probably really soon to tell you the truth. So big shout out to my brother Melo.” Their friendship grew much closer after the 2008 Olympics run with the Redeem team. Realizing their power and responsibilities, alongside Dwyane Wade, the trio started the Gentlemen Supper Club.

Recently, the Club completed 10 years of operation as the Club co-founders celebrated the milestone. The success of the nonprofit also stems from its efforts of Social Change Fund United to drive equity and positive change in underrepresented communities of color.
Looking at the success of Dwyane Wade, Chris Paul, and Carmelo Anthony’s collective efforts
The trio is also part of the infamous Banana Boat Crew, and last year through SCF made a healthy contribution. As per reports, the (SCFU) will invest $230,000 in two new initiatives SCFU We Got Next and SCFU Legacy. We Got Next will provide essential materials and access to young people to build entrepreneurial skills, the SCFU will also contribute $125,000 to its partners, Gray Matter Experience, AllStar Code, and Rapunzl.
The SCFU Legacy initiative will see a total of $105,000 contributed in six grants to small Los Angeles-based businesses. So far, the initiative led by the three has helped over 130,000 people. It provides scholarships and financial assistance to companies and organizations that advocate for people of color. Another outstanding contribution to society is that SBC already contributed $1 million in grants.
So, Chris Paul has seen Carmelo Anthony’s efforts post-retirement very closely. That’s why CP3 wants to replicate those efforts after his hooping years. The only question remains, how long will the Point God continue to play on the hardwood?
