Having a child is a very emotionally fulfilling and draining process at the same time. Some may take it upon themselves to document their journey through the whole 9 months so they have something to look back upon. While others release their emotional and physical turmoil through writing. I felt a responsibility to share, Gabrielle said about her experience of having her daughter, Kaavia, which inspired her to write You Got Anything Stronger? Welcoming Kaavia through surrogacy was a whole new experience for the Wade family, with several unexpected moments. Union chronicled those precious times in her book which helped release her pain. She also found a similar peace in another book authored by Jennifer Lopez’s close friend.

Taking to her IG story, Union shared a snap of the book Scrambled or Sunny-Side Up?: Living Your Best Life After Losing Your Greatest Love. She also shared a message along with it. “If you have ever dealt with loss and grief and feeling stuck, this book will speak to your soul. @LorenRidinger. So proud of you, Mama,” Union wrote along with heart emojis

The author of the book is Loren Ridinger, who wrote it while coping with the loss of her husband, JR Ridinger. During their vacation in Croatia in August 2022, Mr. Ridinger died from a pulmonary embolism at the age of 63. It wasn’t easy for Loren. And her support system during those days was her friend Lopez. She shared how she would even call the actress 20 times a day.

“She’s been one of my best friends for so many years and somebody who’s been a big support. I love her and I admire and I look up to her, but she’s been a pillar of strength at a time where it’s been hard for her too,” Ridinger told US Weekly.

The book also shares a connection with the singer. It begins with the couple heading to Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s wedding in Georgia and ends with their divorce. Lopez ended the marriage after two years, and this time, Loren made sure to support her friend.

Loren learned that losing not just a loved one but also a marriage or a dear friend is equally painful. “I realized that you don’t have to lose someone to grieve. You can actually go through the loss of a loved one or a divorce and grieve,” she added. Through her book, she hopes to share her experiences and everything she has learned with others.

Having written three books sharing her own experiences, Union understands how much peace this exchange can bring into one’s life.

Gabrielle Union felt liberated through her book

The Bring It On actress’ journey to motherhood wasn’t easy. Before surrogacy, Union opted for IVF and experienced multiple heartbreaks and miscarriages. It was only after Wade convinced her that she chose surrogacy

This experience inspired her to write You Got Anything Stronger? (2021), a book about releasing all her pain. And the process made her feel “liberated.” She also wrote Welcome to the Party (2020) and We’re Going to Need More Wine (2017).

Speaking about the journey, Union also shared how it impacted her and her relationship with her husband, Dwyane Wade. Finally, in 2018, they welcomed their daughter Kaavia.

“I felt like a failure. I felt like my body had failed me. I had failed me and I had failed Dwyane [Wade], and he deserved something other than me. When you don’t physically birth your child and you have those nine months to bond with your baby, it’s like me and Dwyane are in the same boat with Kaav,” Union told Trevor Noah on The Daily Show. She added, “With this, I know I’m not alone.”

From her fears to finally conquering them, Union shared it all in her book as she and Wade slowly worked to form a bond with Kaavia.
