After Cancer Screening, FOX’s Erin Andrews Announces Fresh Health Update Amid Emotional Plea to Fans

6 min read

Erin Andrews isn’t just reporting on the action—she is the action. From owning the sidelines to battling cervical cancer like an absolute warrior, she’s built a career (and a life) on grit, resilience, and keeping it 100 with her fans. Now, with football season in the rearview, she’s stepping off the field and into the convo about something way bigger than sports: her own health.

So, the thing is—Andrews recently got a cancer screening, and while it was not a super pleasant thing to do, she’s glad she did it. In an exclusive interview with NewBeauty, she shared, “I recently had a cancer screening. I went to my dermatologist to have a body scan, and I burned off a couple of things, which wasn’t fun, but I’m glad I did it.” It made her realize she needs to step up her skincare game. Especially since she spends hours baking in the sun on the football field. “I learned a lot about what I should be doing now in my late 40s about taking care of myself. SPF, SPF, SPF is going to be my new best friend, especially when I’m on the football field for four to five hours a day.” Basically, sunscreen is about to be her ride-or-die.

Fun fact: When we get a sunscreen, we need to look for the PA+, like more pluses and a higher number like 50 or more. That means more protection from UV rays and everything.

Andrews isn’t just talking the talk—she knows how important it is to stay on top of health stuff. After her cervical cancer scare in 2016, she’s been making it her mission to remind people to get checked. “If I had not gone to the doctor, this would have been a much worse outcome,” she said. Now, she’s teaming up with AstraZeneca and the NHL’s Hockey Fights Cancer initiative to spread the word: Early detection literally saves lives.

But let’s be real—staying healthy isn’t just about going to the doctor. Andrews swears by working out to keep her body and mind in check. “The biggest thing for me in my life is going to work out,” she said. “Whether it is doing something online, if I’m at a hotel gym, taking a class by my hotel or my house—I love Pilates. I love circuit training.” And yeah, it’s not just about looking good—it’s about keeping that mental health in check, too.

Now, post-screening, she’s doubling down on skincare. Long days outside mean she’s finally giving SPF the respect it deserves. “SPF, SPF, SPF is now going to be part of my new line that I’m bringing, obviously, on the road,” she said. And she’s not playing when it comes to skincare—she’s obsessed with Augustinus Bader serums, CO2Lift masks, and all the fancy treatments to keep her skin looking flawless.

She’s also trying to stay on top of her nutrition, though she’s not afraid to admit she forgets sometimes. “Thorne supplements are a big one for me and how I try to take care of myself on the road and off the road. I have a young baby that I want to be healthy and around and energetic for…but I just realized I forgot to take my supplements this morning. Shoot! But it’s O.K.,” she laughed.

Well, now that the NFL season is over, Andrews is actually getting some downtime—but don’t expect her to be chilling on the couch 24/7. She’s soaking up time with her family, especially her son, and loving it. “It’s been some really nice time reintroducing myself to my kid, getting to go to these classes with him. I took him to Target the other day and was laughing. He’s like a mini version of Larry David walking around the entire store,” she joked. Absolute mom behavior.

At the end of the day, Erin Andrews is all about balance. Staying healthy, hustling hard, and making time for the things that matter. Whether she’s hyping up cancer screenings, raving about her fave skincare, or just vibing with her kid at Target, she’s proof that taking care of yourself is never a bad idea. “You’ve got to get past that fear and take care of yourself,” she reminded fans. And honestly? She’s so right.

‘Your health isn’t a maybe, it’s a must’: Erin Andrews gets real with fans

Erin Andrews doesn’t sugarcoat anything. Facts. She beat cervical cancer in 2016, and now she’s on a mission to make sure no one else puts their health on the back burner. In a Calm Down with Erin and Charissa podcast, she hit fans with a reality check. If you’re avoiding doctor’s visits out of fear, you’re playing a dangerous game.

People are afraid to go to the doctor because they don’t want bad news,” she admitted. “Just a random checkup is how I found out I had cervical cancer.” That one appointment literally saved her life. Now, at 46, she’s not taking any risks—she’s getting biannual screenings, including mammograms, because when it comes to health, guessing isn’t an option.

But even with all those checkups, the fear still creeps in. Andrews kept it real about how nerve-wracking waiting for results can be, even years after beating cancer. “I literally had a panic attack in the office because they were making me wait,” she shared. “Finally, I started crying. I told the lady at the front desk, ‘Can you please just get me in a room because I’m freaking out’?” And honestly? That hit too close to home—because the fear of bad news never fully disappears.

And just when she thought she was in the clear, Andrews found out she’s now dealing with a pre-cancerous spot on her upper lip. Instead of spiraling, though, she’s using her platform to remind everyone that early detection is everything. Whether it’s sharing her nine-year IVF journey or talking about surrogacy. She’s been super open about the highs and lows of women’s health.

Her message? Stop waiting. “You’ve got to get past that fear and take care of yourself,” she repeated. Whether it’s a routine checkup or a long-overdue screening, one thing is clear—playing the waiting game isn’t worth it. In Erin’s words, ‘Go book that appointment, bestie.’
