It was April 11, 2025, when Abdul Carter posted a picture of the Giants legend Lawrence Taylor on his X handle. The picture had “Once a Giant, always a Giant” clearly written across it. NFL reporter Ian Rapoport later reposted it. And then all of a sudden, people started to confirm that the Giants may not pick a QB, basically Shedeur Sanders, but an edge like Carter instead. So, when the Giants snapped him up 3rd overall, it was not a shock.
The shock is his resurfaced tweet that is going viral. Fans are reacting in all sorts of ways after discovering Carter’s old tweet to Giants’ bitter rivals and 2024 Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, following his selection. On February 9, he had dropped a 4-word message, “Somebody grab my belt.” And added, “Go Birds,” with emojis of Eagles following their Super Bowl LIX win!
SOMEBODY GRAB MY BELT!!! GO BIRDS!

In a recent interview, Abdul Carter had said, “I really just got to enjoy my last year really being a fan. Being from Philly, born and raised, supporting the Eagles really my whole life. I got to take my dad to the Super Bowl. Just enjoyed being a fan last year. Whatever team drafts me, I’m loyal to that team.” But hold on, what he said before that was worth knowing. The star edge rusher said, “Once I go to New York, I’m all New York – I’m going to have to leave Philly behind.” Well, he’s going to New York. Time to be a pro now.
