“I have the best discography ever for a non-rapper,” Shaquille O’Neal boldly claimed. On the surface, it sounds ridiculous. But look deeper – he’s gone platinum, worked with hip-hop royalty, and reinvented himself as DJ Diesel. To put things into perspective, Shaq’s music journey includes a Jay-Z feature on No Hook and an appearance on a Michael Jackson remix (2 Bad). Shaq Fu has built a music career most wouldn’t expect from an NBA icon. And now, he’s teasing yet another shift in sound.
Shaquille O’Neal’s musical journey started in the ‘90s when he rapped with Fu-Schnickens before signing a $10 million deal with Jive Records. He just had one condition: “I said as long as I could rap with all my favourite rappers, I’d do it. And they agreed.” His debut album, Shaq Diesel, went platinum! Whether in hip-hop or EDM, Shaq consistently defies genre boundaries.
His latest tease came after T-Pain announced his Wiscansin Festival. Shaq jumped into the comments, simply asking, “DUBSTEP?” T-Pain didn’t hesitate, responding, “Absolutely.” Shaq then shared the exchange on his Instagram story, fueling speculation. Could this mean a special dubstep collaboration is on the way? Given Shaq’s recent Damage release, it seems like a natural progression. The question is: Will this be just another experiment, or is Shaq preparing to dominate a new corner of the EDM scene?

As for Wiscansin Fest, T-Pain’s annual event will return to Milwaukee on June 13-14, promising an electrifying mix of hip-hop, R&B, and EDM. The lineup already includes Pusha T, Wale, Keyshia Cole, Feid, NLE Choppa, Jermaine Dupri, Kash Doll, Armani White, and more. Of course, DJ Diesel himself will take the stage, adding to the festival’s hype. With Shaq back in the mix and teasing a new sound, fans can’t help but wonder, what’s he cooking up next?
Shaquille O’Neal’s explosive drop & bold new flavor, what’s next?
What happens when an NBA legend dives headfirst into bass music? You get “Damage,” the latest banger from Shaquille O’Neal, better known in the music world as DJ Diesel. Teaming up with Virtual Riot, he’s cooked up a track that’s shaking the bass scene. What was special about this song?
It starts off almost deceptively, soft guitar strings ease you in before Diesel’s commanding voice takes over. Then, just when you think you know where it’s going, the drop hits hard. A wild mix of dubstep and drum & bass elements explodes, making it impossible to sit still. And let’s not forget the perfect timing, released just before Shaq’s Fun House, an insane pre-Super Bowl event with artists like Ludacris and John Summit.
But Diesel isn’t stopping at music. Ever thought about what Shaq would taste like in a drink? Well, now you kinda can. He’s teamed up with BeatBox to launch Blueberry Lemonade, a flavor as bold as his beats. With 11.1% ABV and a low-sugar formula, it’s built for parties—just like his music.
“Shaquille O’Neal is everything BeatBox stands for,” says co-founder Brad Schultz. And honestly, it makes sense. Diesel is all about big energy, big beats, and big flavors. So, what’s next for Shaq? More music? More flavors? One thing’s for sure—whatever he does, it’s going to hit hard.
