Madison Kocian has never been one to shy away from big decisions! Nearly five years ago, she stunned the gymnastics world when she announced her retirement from gymnastics and made a bold choice to pivot towards a different career. Madison’s gymnastics career, highlighted by her membership in the legendary “Final Five” at the 2016 Summer Olympics, was filled with triumphs, including a World Championship title on uneven bars in 2015. However, after just one Olympic appearance, she stepped away from the sport. Her luck in gymnastics may have fallen short, but it seems like she has been lucky enough to find something more special in her life!
Taking to her social media, Madison Kocian made a heartwarming announcement- she’s engaged! The two-time Olympic medalist posted a beautiful picture with her fiancé, Jack Hughes, on Instagram on February 18, marking a special milestone in her life. Alongside the photo, she captioned, “Forever + ever I can’t wait to marry you, Jack!” But her excitement didn’t end here as she further mentioned, “Feeling so thankful for a special weekend in La Jolla!” The seaside and hilly views of La Jolla would have definitely added more magic to their time together.
But when did they first meet? What do we know about their relationship? Madison’s and Jack’s relationship became evident in 2022 when Kocian first shared a glimpse of them both together on her social media. They were seen enjoying their time together during Thanksgiving celebrations in Dallas, Texas. Also, for the unknown, Jack Hughes works as an investment banking analyst in Houston, Texas. Since then, he has been a steadfast presence in Madison’s life as she navigated and transitioned from elite gymnastics to medical career aspirations.
In fact, Kocian has been actively sharing glimpses of her life with Jack on social media. For the past three years, the couple has been celebrating mostly all big events and holidays together. Last year, as well, Kocian shared a photo of herself along with Jack celebrating Christmas and New Year together. Jack also seems to be involved in her friend circle as well. On multiple occasions, she has shared pictures of Jack and her friends together. For instance, he was there for the Walkers party with Kocina Madison in January 2024 as well.
Also, how can we ignore that they both went to watch the 2024 Paris Olympics in support of Team USA? Kocian shared a huge photo dump of the Olympics on her Instagram, where she was seen with Jack attending the Olympics. The dump consists of photos of Madison and Aly Raisman together as well, and one of the pictures of Arena was of Simone Biles’ gold medal ceremony for All Around. All the photos of the couple are clear evidence of how much Madison and Jack care for each other’s happiness and interests. Seeing all of it, we can safely say that they are truly made for each other.
Now, as she embarks on this exciting new chapter with Jack, Madison Kocian continues to inspire, proving that there is always a new adventure waiting just around the corner. We know for a fact that she will make the most of this new chapter in her life, as she has previously too embraced a new career very well after her gymnastics retirement.
What is Madison Kocian up to post Gymnastics retirement?
Madison Kocian decided to trade in her leotard for a white coat after taking retirement from elite gymnastics. It was the high-quality care that she received during her shoulder injury in 2020 that led her to pursue medicine. She wanted to provide the same care to others that she received during the injury. She started working in an adult orthopedics clinic, but her passion was always in pediatric medicine. Her interest in this specialty grew during her work at Children’s Health Andrews Institute in Plano.
A particularly poignant influence was Liam Clark, a young boy who passed away from acute myeloid leukemia in 2020, inspiring her dedication to pediatric medicine. Since starting at Baylor in 2022, she has worked diligently toward her goals. She finally graduated on December 7, 2024, and was honored during the School of Health Professions commencement ceremony. While gymnastics holds a special place in her heart, she now primarily focuses on medicine and family.
As she embarks on this new chapter, Kocian remains committed to making a meaningful impact in the medical field, proving that the skills she honed as a gymnast extend far beyond the competition floor. From Olympic gold to a future in healthcare, she continues to inspire others with her dedication and passion.
