Dwyane Wade Revisits Recent $3Million Donation to Former Team With Another Message of Appreciation

A few months ago, Dwyane Wade alongside Heat star Bam Adebayo hosted an event to help the community. Both of them unveiled a newly designed basketball court at the Chapman Partnership. Apart from helping the people of Miami, the Flash last year even pledged $3 million to Marquette University. It helped the program in three ways, and that’s why the Golden Eagles gave back their icon with an award, which D-Wade appreciated.

The next Pioneer of Change from @muathletics is @dwyanewade. Wade is not only a @marquette.basketball legend, but a long time philanthropist and advocate through his Wade’s World and Wade family foundations.” The Milwaukee-based university added a post on Instagram about 3x NBA champion. He was quick to reply as he added, “Thank you ” in the comments section of the post and on his Instagram story.

The post emphasized that the $3 million donation was put to use to improve three things. First, to improve the school’s summer reading program for Milwaukee children. Then to establish a Wade Scholars program benefiting low-income students. Lastly, to expand the university’s athletic and human performance research center, which included a new practice facility for the men’s basketball program.

In January last year, Marquette announced the gift Monday as he was in attendance during the game against Villanova. The Hall of Fame guard also spoke during the game about his attachment to love for the program. “I go back to my journey here and how I got here. And I just wanted to make sure that this university I know changed my life, that so many others get the same opportunity.” This is not his only contribution to his alma mater.

Dwyane Wade continues to provide an opportunity for others

The Heat icon recently alongside Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony has established a Social Change Fund United. This helps to drive equity and positive change in underrepresented communities of color. The SCFU invested $230,000 in two new initiatives; We Got Next and SCFU Legacy.

Two years ago, Dwyane Wade helped Marquette University with a donation to reform the learning program. The university already did a special literacy program for inner-city youth. Each summer, the learning center helped students focus on 90 minutes of targeted reading every day. The Flash made the donation to keep it running and renamed it after his sister, Tragil Wade-Johnson.

I always told my sister how important she has been on this journey. She made sure I got to school every day. She made sure I was prepared when I got there as a young kid. She won’t expect this, but this right here, this is her.” Dwayne Wade said in a video message when he made that donation in 2022 helped the program run until 2025. That’s why the recent $3 million donation will definitely help the youth for more years.
