Trinity Rodman Puts NWSL on High Pedestal Amid Raising Doubts Against the League

2 min read

The National Women’s Soccer League seems to be under a heavy cloud of uncertainty. Throughout the offseason, there has been a series of exits from the American women’s domestic league, as talents signed deals with various foreign clubs. This exodus has cast the NWSL in a negative light, leading fans to question the future of the league. However, Trinity Rodman thinks otherwise and is insteadexcited‘ about what lies ahead.

Stars like Naomi Girma, Jenna Nighswonger, Kerolin, and Crystal Dunn are a few to abruptly leave the States in favor of some of the biggest clubs across Europe. This indirectly surrounds the fear of stars like Trinity herself being lured away from the league. But from the looks of it, the USWNT star seems focused on how she could make the most with her teammates in the upcoming NWSL season.

“Just more growth, attack-minded, and the competition is just getting harder and harder,” admitted Rodman while speaking to The Mirror US. Despite witnessing the exit of crucial players, the 22-year-old is still emphasizing the league’s competitiveness. Well, there is no better than her to realize this, considering how close she came to glory last year.

With 8 goals and 6 assists in over 26 matches, Trinity played a key role for the Spirit last season. However, the DC-based club faced misfortune in both their pursuits of the NWSL Shield and the NWSL Championship. They lost to Orlando Pride on both occasions by initially securing the second spot in the regular season by a deficit of four points, before being narrowly defeated in the finals.

No wonder the daughter of Dennis Rodman is backing the NWSL over raising its standards. In fact, from the looks of it, Trin really seems to have figured out her plans for the 2025 campaign. “I think we’re getting great players in the league every single year, every single month. You never know what you’re going to get and I’m excited to see how competitive it is this year,” concluded the 2024 Olympic winner.
