A few days ago, a lot of efforts were made to rip the Phoenix Suns apart. While it initially felt like a necessary action considering the failure of the Big 3, it went out of hand as the trade deadline approached. Especially, several franchises seemed desperate to take out Kevin Durant while he was the only consistent performer on the team. Anyway, now that the dust has settled, the 2x NBA Champ revealed the road map for the Suns’ championship aspirations, along with his uncertain future in the league.
Suns owner Mat Ishbia has put together an expensive team, going well beyond the tax limit. One of his biggest gambles was trusting the Big 3 and paying them $50 million each. The initial verdict of the gamble is undoubtedly a failure, as Coach Mike Budenholzer has sent Bradley Beal to the bench amid his slump. Anyway, we’ll have to wait for the rest of the season for the final verdict. Amid this juncture, KD laid the road for the remainder of the season, saying, “I feel like we definitely could be playing better.”
Speaking at the presser during the 2025 All-Star practice session, Kevin Durant revealed the two reasons behind the Suns’ failure. “I feel like it’s a couple factors you know we had some guys in and out the lineup… turning the ball over, I think the fundamental stuff I think will be better if we fix that coming out of the break,” said KD with a promise to fix them. It’s important to address that the Suns haven’t had a stable locker room in the past few months. Starting from Bradley Beal’s trade rumors to the latest beef between Jusuf Nurkic and Coach Mike.
In addition to that, Durant added, “I feel like we just playing a better brand of ball and more sustainable brand with the lineup switches like that and we’re all figuring it out man we got 28 29 games to go to figure it out.” Unfortunately, that hasn’t been certain either as the team has lost 6 out of its last 7 games amid the drama. The 36-year-old superstar is undoubtedly far from hanging his boots. In fact, he has just entered the ultra-elite club, crossing the 30K points. Most importantly, Slim Reaper isn’t far away from dethroning LeBron James’ scoring leader title. Practically, KD might need a healthy 4-5 season to make it happen. However, the superstar’s future in the league looks bleak after the fresh statement.

Speaking at the presser, a reporter asked Kevin Durant if he would play EuroLeague. In response, he made a concerning statement. “I don’t know man, I doubt it right now. I love playing in the NBA, but I love watching the Euro League.” Following that, KD proceeded to pick a country where he thought he’d fit better. “It would be Monaco. Would be a nice place too but for now I love Phoenix I’ll stay there for now.”
