Caitlin Clark Plays Spectator in Sophie Cunningham, Lexie Hull Act on Top of Sydney Colson

Well, we’ve all heard the drama—locker room fights, sideline tension, on-court beefs. But how often do we get to see locker room love or pure on-court joy? Lately, the ladies of the Indiana Fever have been serving us just that. From goofy hairdos to genuine support during tough times, it’s all good vibes and tighter bonds. And with the Fever sitting pretty at 17–12, who’s to say this squad—yes, even without Clark on the floor—can’t chase a title? Because right now, Clark’s not just a star guard… she’s a front-row fan to the fun.

Well, thanks to Lexie Hull, we all know that Clark has a knack for pranks. On a much-needed beach escape to Mexico during the WNBA Olympic break, Hull, Clark, and Katie Lou Samuelson (plus their partners) soaked up the sun and the silliness. That’s when Hull had a revelation: “She loves to stir up some trouble, that’s for sure. If you need a laugh, she’ll get it done for you,” Hull told USA TODAY Sports. But, clearly, ever since Sophie Cunningham joined, the laughs have multiplied. And on days, Clark can’t get it done, Sophie steps up, pulling in even Hull with her.

And this recent one was straight-up comedy gold. So while Sydney Colson was just minding her own business, tying her shoelaces like any normal person, chaos decided to enter the chat. Out of nowhere, Sophie Cunningham and Lexie Hull came running in and literally sat on Sydney’s shoulders—yes, both of them, like it was totally normal. Sydney? She popped up real quick, clearly not expecting that kind of sneak attack.

Caitlin Clark was right behind them, just watching the whole thing unfold with that “what is even happening?” face. Same, Caitlin. Same. Sophie posted the video on X and captioned it, “She loves us.” Sydney’s hilarious comeback? “Smelled weird.” Locker room shenanigans: 100. Boredom: 0. Colson isn’t the only Fever teammate Cunningham decided to tease, though.

Sophie Cunningham stumbled upon a meme on Friday that pretty much nailed the dynamic between her, Caitlin Clark, and Lexie Hull. And, of course, she couldn’t resist reposting it with a little stamp of approval. The image? A kid aggressively blasting a horn (clearly labeled “Caitlin”) right into the ear of another kid, grimacing in pain (marked “Lexie/Sophie”). “I’ve never seen anything more true,” Cunningham wrote on X. And just like that, the post went viral.

Well, this wasn’t all the charm coming out of the Indiana Fever camp. After the win, Natasha Howard took to X to hype up her squad, especially her partner-in-hoops Sophie Cunningham. Reacting to a post highlighting their dominant combo—38 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists—Natasha wrote, “We step up for each other. We don’t stress over who night it is we are all there to win, that’s how we repay each other. That’s why I love for the world to see everyone on our bench is good. We enjoy fighting & have each others back. Sophie (our firecracker) I’m proud of you. ” So, all that chatter about a locker room rift? Yeah, it clearly doesn’t match what we’re seeing here.

Inside the Fever locker room—clearing the air on ‘divide’ talk

It didn’t take long for locker room rumors to swirl once Sophie Cunningham admitted, “We have got to stay disciplined, we have to stay focused, we need to get consistent, and we got to lean on each other. And I think we’ve kind of wavered on that. We have our own islands.”  Some fans took that as a subtle shade, speculating that not everyone on the Indiana Fever roster was vibing. And let’s be honest—when your star player, Caitlin Clark, is out with an injury and expectations are sky-high in her second year, people are quick to connect dots that may not even be there. But before you run with that narrative, hold up—because what followed showed a very different picture of this team.

Cunningham herself later made it clear: this group is special. “We really do love each other. We love spending time together,” she said, laughing while recalling how she and Kelsey Mitchell got the crowd going in the fourth quarter. “Sometimes we have to hold hands and be like, ‘Hey, we’re going to get through.’” She wasn’t just talking about tough practices, but about the bond that builds when teammates hype each other up, have fun, and genuinely care. “When people are smiling…Like you don’t ever see Kelsey get like that, but when we see her get like that, we’re like, ‘Oh yeah, like we’re in it’. And when other teams see that, it’s game over.”

Need more proof this team’s tight-knit? Just scroll through their social media. When Sophie rocked a hilariously lopsided hairstyle at practice, Caitlin Clark reposted it with the perfect playful roast: “@Sophie Cunningham love this hairstyle.” And when Lexie Hull lost her 14-year-old dog, Maggie, the entire squad was there in the comments. “Love you. Doggie heaven,” wrote Clark. Cunningham added, “nooooo Lex, I’m sorry,” while Aliyah Boston simply said, “Awww sorry Lex.” So yeah, even if the Fever are still working on chemistry and consistency, the unity? It’s very much there, and real.
