John Harbaugh Turns Ravens Fans Away as Lamar Jackson Struggles at Training Camp

2 min read

The 2025 NFL season looms right around the corner, and Lamar Jackson‘s uneven start to training camp has become one of the most talked-about stories in Baltimore. The former MVP has looked out of rhythm, especially during red zone drills, where the Ravens’ offense has failed to score on six of its last eight attempts, per team insiders. A missed connection with Zay Flowers and Isaiah Likely, after their injuries, has further trampled the quarterback’s camp. Under pressure, the team has painted a picture far from that of regular-season readiness. And in the middle of this mounting scrutiny, a new wrinkle was added.

As the skies darkened and raindrops began to fall, even the atmosphere around the Baltimore Ravens‘ 2025 training camp has shifted from excitement to concern, and now, frustration. As storms rolled across Owings Mills on July 31, the Ravens made a weather-related decision that rippled far beyond the skies. Head coach John Harbaugh closed the gates of the Under Armour Performance Center, turning fans away from practice due to inclement weather, citing safety concerns with lightning in the area. Hopes for another electrifying Ravens training‑camp open practice were washed away before they even began. With lightning in the forecast and rain expected to pound the region, the Baltimore Ravens made the difficult call: no fans would be permitted inside the Under Armour Performance Center to watch practice today.

In a post on X, the team announced, “Due to impending inclement weather, fans will not be permitted to enter the Under Armour Performance Center to watch practice today. Fans with passes for today’s Training Camp practice will receive communication via email.”

Now, with fans shut out and the franchise quarterback’s rhythm under the microscope, Baltimore’s camp carries a strange weight. The thunder outside mirrored the tension within: Harbaugh had no choice but to close the doors.
