A lot of the Celtics’ favorites were shown the door this offseason. The GM did not shy about the reasons either. “The second apron is why those trades happened.” Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis are traded away. Even Luke Kornet has also joined the long list of departing players. But ever since the addition of new players, there have been reports of Anfernee Simons being the next one out of the building, but it seems that is not the case anymore.
“The word I’m getting is that it doesn’t seem like that. There’s anything really brewing in terms of the Celtics making a trade involving Simons or Niang. It’s just kind of seeing what teams would be interested in taking that knowledge into the start of the season. And we’ll see where this team does at the trade deadline.” Brett Siegel on The Garden Report added that the C’s would be happy to get a deal done, but are prepared to roll into next season with both.
“And I think that that’s really the Avenue that the Celtics are operating with right now, where obviously if a trade came their way and it was exactly what they wanted and the type of value that they could get for Simons or Niang, they’d make the trade right now.” Only if a suitable offer comes, Niang or Simons will be out; otherwise, they are etched in the plans for next season. But someone who might not be is Sam Hauser.
As per Ringer, Simons and Niang were the names that everybody knows. ” The likely casualties are Anfernee Simons and Georges Niang, but no one should be shocked if/when Sam Hauser gets traded.”
This is a developing story…
