Team Clark Reeling as Ex-Dallas Wings Star Makes Shocking All-Star Announcement

2 min read

For the first time, the All-Star is moving away from the traditional East vs. West conference format, allowing the top vote-getters to draft their own teams. And when they did, neither of the captains wanted to trade players. However, they did exchange head coaches—a move that was later approved by the league. But despite all efforts to build the ideal Team CC, none of the players could have predicted the drastic turn of events!

It all comes up after Satou Sabally, just days after being named a starter in her third WNBA All-Star appearance, took to Instagram to share some difficult news. In a heartfelt video message, the 27-year-old revealed she will not suit up for this weekend’s All-Star Game in Indianapolis due to a lingering ankle injury. “Over the past two weeks, I’ve been working around the clock to rehab my body,” Sabally shared. The Mercury star made it clear that her health and long-term availability remain her top priorities.

Sabally’s absence will sure be a tough blow, not only for fans but also for Team Clark, who will be losing out on a player averaging a career-best 19.1 points and 7.7 rebounds.

After being at the center of Mercury’s playoff push, the injury will be sideling Sabally  from what would have been a deserved celebration of her stellar season. But even then, she is ensuring that no action is missed. “I will be there… to take part in the most important part of the weekend,” the forward added, referencing the ongoing fight for a more equitable CBA. As a member of the WNBPA leadership committee, Sabally reaffirmed her commitment to pushing for structural change, calling the union’s efforts “critical to where our league is and where it’s going.

With star like Alyssa Thomas still representing the Mercury at the All-Star festivities, Sabally’s voice and vision remain very much part of the weekend. Whether she’s dropping 20 on the court or advocating for change behind the scenes, the 3-time All-Star continues to show that she’s more than just a stat line.
