Randi Mahomes Forced to ‘Cry’ After Enduring ‘Hardest 7 Years’ of Patrick Mahomes’ NFL Career With Chiefs

4 min read

Some of you may know Randi Mahomes as the mom of 3-time Super Bowl Champion Patrick Mahomes. Like a few of us might have already thought, she is super blessed to be the mother of the NFL’s biggest superstar. But is she? Have you ever thought about how Randi feels about staying in the limelight all the time? Let’s just say she never really forgot her humble beginnings, to say the least.

Remember that thought we all resonated with while growing up? We thought being an adult would be much easier and more fun than being a kid. But then we realized how wrong we were. Seeing how growing up comes with its fair share of responsibilities. Like, some of us still wish we could get our childhood back. Well, Randi, for one, harbors similar thoughts along the line. Not childhood, but something else more close to her.

In an interview with Shari Nycole, Randi expressed how she misses being Patrick Mahomes’ mother when he wasn’t famous: “I have to admit this has been the hardest 7 years of my life. Not only learning for your kids to move out and become adults and not need you as much and going through that. But at the same time, having to share my family with the world those days. I cry you know I miss my little family.” What Randi truly misses isn’t her childhood. It’s the motherhood she actually misses. Ever since Patrick Mahomes started blossoming in the NFL, winning Super Bowls after Super Bowls. Then, signing his $450M contract, thereby making him one of the richest QBs in the league.

Mahomes doesn’t really need Randi to support him now. And that’s what she struggles to cope with. She even once said, “They don’t even need me for money to take them to dinner. They take me to dinner.” Considering the half-a-billion contract Mahomes has with the Chiefs, it isn’t really surprising to see that the Chiefs’ QB can get himself and his family anything they want. And in those 7 years, Mahomes didn’t only grow as a player in the NFL. He also became a husband to Brittany and a father of 3 children, Sterling, Bronze, and Golden. So, within that period, Randi also became a grandmother, seeing her family grow bigger almost every year.

Now, besides missing her motherhood. Randi also feels jealous seeing her friends lead normal lives that she isn’t capable of anymore.

Randi Mahomes just wants to live a normal life

Yeah, staying in the public eye is great. People like to talk about you, follow you, and maybe consider you as a role model in their lives. But Randi, for one, doesn’t like that attention she is constantly showered with. Instead, she feels envious of her friends who don’t have to deal with stardom, “When I look at some of my friends on social media or in different things. I’m jealous that they have this normal situation. Their kids are the same age as Patrick and Jackson and they have this normal situation and we don’t. It’s super difficult.” Randi even recalls those moments when she tried to lead a normal life by going to work.

However, she doesn’t always receive work-related calls: “At my work. It’s really hard because 90 percent of my phone aren’t about work. I still go to work and want to live normal.” Well, her problems don’t end there. Randi once said how she just can’t celebrate Christmas without paparazzi showing up or football games interrupting their time together, “It’s just being me and my kids whether celebrating Christmas, you know, opening Santa gifts together. To now we have a football game that or when we do open gifts, there might other people there whether they’re filming. I want to be selfish and just have them to myself, have my grandkids to myself.”

I guess normalcy isn’t a thing for Randi anymore. Even though she wants to escape all the attention, this is the new normal for the Mahomes family. You will just have to live with it because you can’t have everything that you wish for, whether it’s stardom or a life like a regular human being.
