Ryan Day & Billy Napier Put On Alert as 4-Star Bralan Womack Announces College Football Inclination

4 min read

The 2026 recruiting cycle is in full swing, and one of the nation’s top safeties is about to put some coaches on notice. Bralan Womack, the No. 3 safety in the nation and Mississippi’s No. 2 player, just revealed his final four schools. With that said, the fight for his commitment is about to get serious between Ryan Day and Billy Napier.

On3 Recruits dropped his inclination of Bralan Womack on X on February 13 — “Elite safety Bralan Womack is down to 4⃣ schools and will take an official visit to each, he tells @ChadSimmons.” Among his top schools are National champions Ohio State and three big SEC programs — Florida, Texas A&M, and Auburn. The 6’0, 195-pounder will kick off his OV with a trip to Gainesville from May 30 to June 1, Texas from June 5-7, Auburn from June 13-15, before wrapping up with a visit to Columbus from June 20-22.

One thing about Bralan Womack is that he’s a game-changer on both sides of the football. He led Hartfield Academy to a second-straight MAIS Class 6A championship while earning Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year honors. As a junior, he racked up 39 tackles and eight interceptions while also making 54 receptions for 1,045 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. On special teams, he also has a kickoff return for a TD as well as a punt return for another score.

Ohio State had been aggressive in their pursuit of Bralan Womack, with safeties coach Matt Guerrieri leading the charge. The Buckeyes already have a top-20 recruiting class in the 2025 class headlined by 4-star Faheem Delane and they’re looking to build the momentum beyond this year. Thanks to Ryan Day’s personal visit with Womack in January, the inclination is strong for the Buckeyes.

Coming out of high school, a lot of people compared me to Caleb Downs,” the 4-star prospect revealed. “That’s a great comparison to be compared to. Looking at what [OSU] did for him this year, what they’ve done in recent years with the DB’s they’ve brought in and put in the league and kept in the league, there’s not a doubt in my mind that I can go there and be developed and get to the NFL.” That’s the dream of any college football player. But Ohio State should be wary of Billy Napier’s program too.

Florida is pushing hard for Bralan Womack

Billy Napier and his team aren’t far behind Ohio State in this recruitment race. The Gators made sure they left a lasting impression on Bralan Womack during his second visit. “Florida made a great impression on me,” he told On3. “They’re big on the weight room and I’m big on the weight room myself. It’s something that was programmed into me in high school is to stay in the weight room.” But they aren’t the only SEC program making noise. Texas A&M and Auburn are in hot pursuit, and both schools have the resources and history to pull off a recruiting upset.

In a previous interview with Rivals, Bralan Womack expressed his take on the Aggies HC Mike Elko, saying, “He’s a safeties coach at head coach and he’s able to relate to you.” About the Tigers, both HC Hugh Freeze and safeties coach T.J. Rushing played a big role in his interest. “It was a great atmosphere. Like people said, it’s just different down here on the Plains… Spent the most time with Coach Rushing. I talked to him a lot. I got to talk to coach Hugh Freeze and the rest of the staff. It was just nice.” With Ohio State getting the last visit, they’re in a prime spot to close. But with the SEC schools ramping up their efforts, the battle is far from over.

For now, Ryan Day and Billy Napier are on high alert. The next few months will be crucial as one of the best safeties in the nation inches closer to a commitment.
