As soon as MMA fans heard about a possible Conor McGregor vs Logan Paul fight in India, they couldn’t help contain their excitement even though nothing was confirmed by any of the players involved except for the Irishman. After all, this was going to be the bout where we would have gotten the much-anticipated return of ‘The Notorious’. But why didn’t the fight go through, beyond McGregor’s infamous announcement of the bout? Well, it’s because he is still under Dana White’s control, or as Logan Paul recently put it, he is “owned by the UFC.”
Conor McGregor‘s chances at a $250 million fight against Paul under he supervision of the Ambanis seems like a pipe dream now since White has shot down any chances of that fight taking place. “No” was what the boss emphatically answered when he was asked about the fight on Pardon My Take. The former dual-weight champ is still under the UFC contract and has two fights left. One of those fights was supposed to be against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 before he injured his pinky toe and withdrew from the planned bout. Since then McGregor has done everything but fight inside the Octagon.
However White still has the hope that the Irishman will fight sometime in late 2025. Given all these factors, Logan Paul had some pretty scathing remarks, perhaps because the Irishman confronted him and his brother Jake before Donald Trump’s inauguration. Speaking to T.I. and Young Dro on the IMPAULSIVE podcast, he said, “Bro I’d love to fight McGregor but he’s owned, he’s owned by the UFC. He can’t do it. He can’t do anything without Daddy Dana’s permission.”
Interestingly even YouTuber-turned-boxer Olajide Olayinka Williams aka KSI remarked that McGregor is ‘owned’ by the UFC. For years both Jake Paul and KSI have tried to goad McGregor into fighting them but were unsuccessful. Despite agreeing to the infamous boxing match—the record-setting bout with Floyd Mayweather—White has been reluctant to agree to any such proposals since.

While speaking to Ariel Helwani, the PRIME co-founder said that the chance of him fighting McGregor was higher than Jake Paul’s because Dana White does not really like ‘The Problem Child’. But KSI also added, “But yeah, I feel like it would be a great fight, me and Conor McGregor, but we’re just gonna have to wait for Dana… Dana holds all the cards.”
Let’s not forget that McGregor, too, has some pretty bold tricks up his sleeve. He might not own the UFC but he does have partial ownership of BKFC. And as a promoter, the Irishman has been killing it. Why do we say that? Well, because he just did what Dana White couldn’t do with the UFC. Let’s find out what that is.
Conor McGregor lands BKFC in Italy before Dana White’s arrival with the UFC
The former dual weight champ is in competition with his UFC boss—not as a fighter, but as a fellow fight promoter. The partial owner of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship has been making bigger moves as a promoter than he did as a fighter. Remember the time when the UFC boss hinted at the concept of an epic scrabble inside Rome’s Colosseum? A unique matchup between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg had the MMA fans excited.
Guess what? The upcoming BKFC event is going to take place in Florence’s Roman Amphitheater, creating a huge milestone for the sport of bare-knuckle boxing, with the premier promotion of the sport now valued at $411 million! McGregor shared the same news in a series of posts on his Instagram story. He promoted former BKFC double champ Lorenzo Hunt’s comeback to the ring.
McGregor wrote, “Former BKFC Double Champ! Back to headline our Italy card.” Along with the fight between ‘The Juggernaut’ ( 11-2-0 ) and Chris Camozzi (24-13-0), McGregor highlighted another massive fight for BKFC’s debut in Italy—Rico Franco vs. Jimmy Sweeney.
Ultimately, White might not let McGregor fight Paul but the Irishman materialized a dream that even Dana White couldn’t. Conor McGregor has become the leading man in BKFC taking it to new heights.
