WNBA Community Erupts Over Caitlin Clark Red Flag After All-Star Announcement

The Indiana Fever star, Caitlin Clark is a formidable force on the hardwood. An exceptional guard with a flawless court vision and defensive prowess, Clark’s raw aggressiveness coupled with a humble persona are enough to make her a fan-favorite. So, when the face of the league was benched again owing to a left groin injury, it left the Fever locker room struggling to fill the shoes. However, the W recently made an announcement surrounding Clark.

The official WNBA website took to X (former Twitter) and shared an update surrounding the 2024 ROTY. Sharing a poster of the upcoming All-Star event featuring Minnesota Lynx player Napheesa Collier and Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark, the post read, “Introducing your 2025 @ATT WNBA All-Star Captains Representing the EAST: Caitlin Clark @IndianaFever. Representing the WEST: Napheesa Collier @MinnesotaLynx.

The recent developments ahead of the 2025 All-Star event caused a stir in the WNBA community. The post has left the fans wondering if Clark will, in fact, be able to step up as the All-Star captain  “She missed 7 out of 18 games this season. She is, no doubt, one of the best players in the league but shouldn’t this be a factor!? It’s almost half of the games played so far,” a user wrote.

On the other hand, another user took a matter-of-fact approach and quipped, “Ngl I’m a CC fan but she don’t deserve to be captain tbh.” After sitting out 5 straight games owing to a left quad strain and 2 consecutive matches due to the latest injury, it does make one wonder whether Clark truly deserves a crown.

(This is a developing story…)
