The MLB All-Star race is heating up, and Francisco Lindor is right at the heart of it. As of Thursday night, Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor has punched his ticket to the second round of voting, riding a wave of overwhelming fan support. He’s inching closer to what could be his first All-Star appearance as a Met. But while thousands cheer from the stands and online, the loudest voice of all might just be coming from home, from his biggest supporter and partner in every step, Katia Lindor.
Lindor was selected for the All-Star Game four times while playing in Cleveland. But ever since arriving in New York in 2021, he hasn’t had that chance. This season, though, is shaping up differently for the 31-year-old. With a stunning start to the year, he’s slashing .265/.333/.458/.791 with 16 home runs and 43 RBIs. It’s no wonder he finished first among shortstops in the initial round of voting. But to secure his spot, he now has to battle Dodgers’ Mookie Betts. Katia knows this very well, and as polls prepare to reopen, she’s reminding everyone, it’s not over yet.
She took to Instagram in an emotional moment, asking fans to keep voting for her husband. “Remember, guys, polls reopen on the 30th until the 2nd, so the work isn’t done yet. Let’s vote our guy into the ASG!! ,” she wrote on her Instagram story, captioning a shared video of Lindor. He has nothing to worry about; with Katia leading the charge, Lindor’s All-Star hopes are in good hands.

She has been a constant support through every high and low of the Mets star’s career. And now, with another career milestone on the horizon in Mets orange and blue, her backing has only grown more determined. This isn’t the first time she’s urged fans to support Lindor. Earlier, during the heat of Phase 1 voting, she was active on social media, encouraging fans to cast their votes. “Keep those votes coming! You can vote 5x a day until the 26th of this month. Let’s support our own,” she posted. And guess what? Even their kids made an appearance in her stories, with a cheeky caption: “If you don’t vote for him, you’re personally insulting them.” That emotional (and clever) plea clearly worked, as Lindor now moves on to the second phase.
Lindor isn’t the only Met in contention. The team has a total of three finalists for the All-Star Game. Pete Alonso finished second in the first base voting behind Freddie Freeman, and Juan Soto ranked sixth among outfielders. For Mets fans, it’s a triple task to push these players to the top, but it’s something they’re more than willing to commit to.
For Lindor, who entered the season with a stellar stat line, this support is expected. But for Soto, who had a painfully slow start, this turnaround is massive. He’s finally making waves in his new home. And with a huge fanbase backing him, an All-Star starting spot is well within reach.
Soto advances in ASG voting following hot June
Francisco Lindor has consistently dominated the voting charts. But what about Juan Soto, the $765 million face of the Mets? He never cracked the top three in Phase 1. Not only that, he finished sixth after slipping from the fourth position. Still, there’s no need to worry. As polling restarts on the 30th, Soto’s odds are only looking stronger. He’s simply not the same player we saw at the start of the season.
Soto has started showing serious fire in recent weeks. June has been historic for him — in his last 25 games, he’s hit 11 home runs and driven in 20 RBIs. “It’s starting to happen,” Soto said earlier this week. “My swing, everything is going the right way. … Finally, the cold weather is gone, so I can have fun now.“, he added. And fun he’s definitely having.
On Wednesday against the Braves, Soto recorded his 27th career multi-homer game, landing him in the record books once again. With that second home run, he moved past Jimmie Foxx for the most multi-homer games in MLB history by a player before turning 27. That kind of performance can easily fuel a surge in All-Star votes. Soto finished behind Pete Crow-Armstrong, Teoscar Hernández, Ronald Acuña Jr., Kyle Tucker, and Andy Pages in the first phase. However, that’s no longer a hurdle for Soto, who enjoys a vast fan base.
After a rough start to the season, things looked bleak until Soto spectacularly flipped the script. Now, while they keep casting their votes, all fans can do is hope he keeps delivering.
