A bejeweled Chanel waist-belt, a flaming red crossbody bag, golden danglers, and a matching set of bracelets on one hand. They are balanced by a gleaming gold watch on the other. Add a cheetah-print scarf, patterned heels, a full-sleeved Chanel top, and a bold khaki printed skort. And voila! You have just gotten served with a look that doesn’t just walk. It announced itself. And if this outfit screams drama, you’re not alone. Welcome to the Angel Reese effect.

Wherever the Chicago Sky’s ultimate fashionista goes, controversy follows. Ahead of the team’s clash with the Phoenix Mercury at the Wintrust Arena, Reese turned heads with her high-end fashion pre-game entrance. She possessed the moment while strutting toward media cameras, striking a pose, and delivering yet another viral walk. But this moment wasn’t just about the fit. Reese’s presence was a bold statement that her story is still unfolding in the sophomore run- both on and off the court.

The official WNBA account took to social media and shared a latest update regarding our Chi-town Barbie. They posted a clip on Instagram with a caption that read, “Leading the league in boards and serving looks. Angel Reese has arrived for the Sky’s 1pm/ET matchup vs. the Mercury. Watch on ABC!

This post reflects the league’s deliberate push to highlight Reese’s athletic dominance, like her league-leading 12.3 rebounds per game, alongside her star power. It’s a reminder that while her pre-game walks light up social media, her work in the paint is what’s shaping her legacy.

The WNBA looked past the great fit to announce a deep-seated message for the fans and other athletes. Angel Reese has been leading in the rebound department with an average of 12.3 rebounds per game this season. Having said that, the athlete made a 2025 consistent double-doubles with 10+ points and 10+ rebounds per game, thereby making her the only athlete to accomplish this feat mid-season.

Having said that, who can forget the forward player’s first triple-double of her career! Reese became the second-youngest player in the league to don her first triple-double during the game against the Connecticut Sun. She dished 11 points, 13 rebounds, 11 assists to propel the team towards a promising 78-66 victory on June 15, 2025.

Meanwhile, things look bleak for the Chicago Sky as they stand with a 15-point loss and close the first half with 58-43. Despite making a statement before the tipoff, can Reese also emerge as a standout player for the locker room? With a 3-8 score on the league’s leaderboard, will Reese overcome the one massive challenge itching the locker room or succumb to yet another loss? With 6 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist so far, things do not appear promising for Reese as the two teams face each other in the second half of the showdown.

Turnovers have been our Achilles’ heel.” And while the head coach of Chicago Sky, Tyler Marsh, has laid emphasis on improving upon this challenge of losing ball possessions during the crucial minutes of the game, the roster went one step ahead to refute the HC’s warning bell.

While the Sky was having a promising run in their last match against the Washington Mystics, the third quarter became a bone of contention between the locker room and the victory run. And the standout player for shaking things up for the roster was none other than Angel Reese.

The forward contributed the most number of turnovers throughout the game. 7 to be precise. And this made the Sky heavy with a whopping 25 turnovers in their belt. While the number was alarming for HC Marsh and the roster, the Mystics capitalized on the opportunity. Needless to say, Brittney Sykes & Co. converted these ball turns into a stark 40-point advantage.

“I got to be better and that’s on me,” Reese said. “I’m going to take that with the turnovers ‘cuz they scored 40 points off of our 25 turnovers and seven of those were mine. So we clean that up obviously.” Reese took accountability for her errors during a pre-game interview. She clarified that the team needs to sort the problem before they progress in the season.

Now as they face Phoenix Mercury on the home court, will HC Tyler Marsh and his team keep a check on the turnovers? Despite a remarkable record on rebounds and defenses, can the team overcome their biggest roadblock to victory and gain another win? Well, looking at the statistics so far, the dream of clinching a win appears to be a far-fetched reality for Angel Reese and her teammates.

Still, Reese’s journey, on and off the court, reminds fans that she’s writing her story one game at a time, just as the WNBA is betting on her to do.
