The winter transfer window was quite a whirlwind, with some shocking moves taking place. Though it has closed, the good thing is that the NWSL can carry forward the tradition of making key signings. The latest development in the American women’s soccer league sees the Houston Dash securing an international addition. Despite ongoing rumors of a potential club sale, they have signed talented youngster Evelina Duljan.
The Swedish international arrives in H-town from Orlando Pride to become the eighth new signing of the club. She also enters the Orange side as a sixth addition to the roster that has won an NWSL championship or league trophy. The exact details of the move aren’t specified, including the transfer fee or the duration of the contract.
Dash president of Women’s Football, Angela Hucles Mangano expressed his delight with the arrival of the highly-rated midfielder. “We are excited to welcome Evelina to the team, she is a talented young player that brings extensive experience after beginning her professional career as a teenager,” said Mangano.
“Her versatility, vision and championship mindset will be a great addition to the group and we are excited to have her continue to develop under the guidance of our staff. She’s excited about this opportunity in Houston and we look forward to her joining the group this preseason.”

The 2024 NWSL Shield and Championship winner left the Pride just after a year, making just 8 regular appearances. The other 3 features came during the NWSL x LIGA MX Femenil Summer Cup, where she scored her first goal against Racing Louisville FC. Even Duljan couldn’t contain her excitement of joining the Texas-based club.
“I am very excited to join the Houston Dash as they build a new identity under Angela and Fabrice. I look forward to meeting my teammates soon and meeting the fans at our first match of the year,” said Duljan, as stated on the club’s website.
Notably, Duljan kicked off her soccer journey at Kristianstads DFF at just 14. Rising through the ranks, she accumulated over four goals and two assists in over 52 matches. Five years at her hometown club saw the starlet enjoy a loan stint at Växjö DFF for the 2021 season. The following year saw her join Juventus. Aside from shining for the Italian’s U-19 side, Evelina made 23 appearances and tallied just a single assist.
She arrives at Dash just a week after they sold Tarciane, to Olympique Lyonnais Féminin for a record transfer fee in the club’s history. One can consider Duljan a surprise move, especially given how the potential sale rumors of the club are flying around!
