Super Bowl LIX came as a culture-defining moment. On Sunday, February 10th, fans witnessed the Philadelphia Eagles embarrass the Kansas City Chiefs to win Super Bowl 59. They denied Andy Reid’s side a chance for a historic three-peat as they stormed to a 40-22 victory at the Caesars Superdome. This brought out fans from every corner. American veteran Pam Shriver, though not particularly pleased with the game’s results, found solace in superstar Serena Williams‘ halftime cameo and Roger Federer‘s hilarious ‘On’ logo promo skit with Elmo.
Disappointed with the outcome, Shriver took to X and posted a candid admission saying, “Wrong bird won, but congratulations to you and all of Philly. We still have World Series of 1983.” However, in a separate post, the retired American player highlighted the best aspects of the game.
The event’s highly anticipated halftime show, headed by 22-time Grammy-winning rap artist Kendrick Lamar, featured an electrifying appearance by Serena Williams. She brought the hammer down on one of the more unlikely feuds in tennis culture by crip walking to KDot’s ‘Not Like Us’, aimed as a diss track towards Canadian artist Drake, who also happens to be the 23-time Major champion’s rumoured ex from their brief relationship in 2011.
Before Williams ecstatically joined Kenny on the stage, Swiss Maestro Roger Federer starred in an amusing ad campaign alongside Sesame Street’s beloved red muppet, Elmo, on behalf of his co-funded athletic sportswear brand ‘On Running’. In a pre-event release teaser, Elmo took a subtle dig at Federer about his grip on the alphabet while discussing the interpretation of the company ‘On’ logo, often misread as ‘QC’ by fans. The fast-growing label, having a revenue of $2B in 2024, later changed its Instagram profile’s bio to clarify any pending doubts about its logo. “It’s On. (Not QC.),” read the bio.
Subsequently, Shriver gave a shout-out to both the retired tennis stars’ Super Bowl involvement after posting her thoughts on X. “Best thing about this Super Bowl was seeing Roger and Serena,” she wrote.

However, before enjoying the Super Bowl features from Williams and Federer, things took a disastrous turn for the 62-year-old a few weeks ago.
Pam Shriver shocked after her Grand Slam trophies were stolen amid LA fires
American veteran Pam Shriver was one of the people affected by the terrible Los Angeles wildfires that wreaked havoc in the city. The fires, which have already claimed at least 29 lives, brought upsetting news for the former World No. 3 after reporting that her Grand Slam trophies were stolen following a car theft in January outside a hotel in Marina del Rey.
The stolen vehicle contained her most prized tennis possessions, including five US Open trophies, five French Open plates, five Wimbledon trophies, and one Australian Open trophy. The doubles specialist previously revealed that although her house was spared from the blaze, it was left without heating and power. As a result, she was forced to check in at a hotel awaiting the restoration of utilities.
The ESPN analyst revealed that she noticed the missing vehicle after taking things out to pack them in her car. “I was just starting to take things out to pack them in the car, and I was like, ‘Where’s the car?’” Shriver later highlighted that it was really sad seeing people resort to such crimes during a crisis. “It’s really sad on so many levels that when people are at their lowest and in their most difficult times, people are doing things like this,” she said.
In late January, the hotel manager gave Pam Shriver a call. Turns out, her trophies and photos had been found near the hotel. Shriver immediately contacted the police, who picked up the items to dust for fingerprints. She was finally able to get her trophies back from the police station the next day. “It wasn’t just a sentiment to me,” she said. “The trophies actually hold a pretty reasonable value as well.”
For now, though, she’s just incredibly relieved to have her trophies back safe and sound. And, like the rest of us, she’s probably still in awe of Roger Federer and Serena Williams!
