Lane Kiffin isn’t just coaching a football program these days. He’s coaching life and he might finally be winning in both. “Cherish this time!!” he wrote earlier this month while sharing a video of a mother capturing her child’s perspective while dancing to a song. It was directed to her kids who are soon stepping into adulthood. And for him, he has every reason to cherish this time not just with his three kids but with his beloved wife Layla Kiffin, with whom he’s enjoying the post-reconciliation phase.
In a heartfelt Instagram story on May 25, Lane Kiffin dropped a candid photo that felt like a Hallmark moment. It was a shot of him and Layla forming a heart with their hands against the backdrop of blue waters and skies. The couple seems to be indulging in a luxurious boat ride enjoying the thrill of being alive and together. The caption is simple but wholesome, “Soulmates ” The band’s back together and they’re making each day count for all those years they spent apart.
If you know the backstory, this isn’t just some offseason fling. The Kiffins tied the knot in 2004 after meeting during their Tennessee days. And they’ve been walking the long road back to each other. Their 2016 split, largely due to Lane Kiffin’s battles with alcohol, left wounds. But he’s four years sober now, and his journey to self-awareness looks like it’s coming full circle. It’s 1-0 for personal growth-old demons.
Their oldest daughter Landry, now a 20-year-old Ole Miss student, who’s also her dad’s most stylish hype woman on Saturdays, was a major player in rallying the reunion. Her brother Knox, 16, is now on the Oxford scene too, a junior QB and maybe a future Rebels star. Meanwhile, Presley, their 18-year-old, is headed to USC for volleyball, bringing their family full circle from their Southern California roots.
Earlier this month, he posted a Mother’s Day tribute to Layla with a throwback pic of her with Landry, writing, “Happy Mother’s Day Layla. So grateful for you everyday.” And his words — “#BandBackTogether InOxford 2025” summed up his excitement and elation for the recent family developments. And the ring on her finger is a cherry on top of it all. The Kiffins got a second chance at life and togetherness. But coming back to the boat ride, even while cruising the blue waters, a piece of Lane Kiffin’s heart belongs to his loyal companion.
Lane Kiffin pens a sweet message for his good boy
In one of his stories, Lane Kiffin posted a sweet photo of Juice Kiffin on the boat with the caption, “Miss you @juice_kiffin.” And if you know anything about this story, you that that this two-and-a-half year old British Labrador retriever isn’t just any dog. He’s Kiffin’s four-legged co-pilot, emotional support animal, and the unofficial face of Ole Miss Football.
Juice came into the family in 2022, courtesy of Wildrose Kennels, and quickly flipped from a kid’s dog to a coach’s shadow. “The typical kid gets the puppy, loves the puppy non-stop and then all of a sudden, you’re taking care of it,” Lane said. “So the dog actually sleeps with me now and kind of goes everywhere with me.” And would you believe it? Juice is a social media star with 34.9K followers on Instagram and over 58K on Twitter, now X. He’s a true digital Dawg! And off the camera, he patrols Manning Center, lounges on sidelines, and headlines Juice Fest.
In 2025, Lane Kiffin may be set for a playoff run Ole Miss narrowly missed last season. But off the field, he’s rewriting his legacy — one love, one kid, and one dog at a time.
