Former NFL head coach Dick Jauron passed away on February 8, 2025, at the age of 74, following a brief battle with cancer. Jauron had a distinguished career in the NFL, both as a player and coach. He played safety for the Detroit Lions and Cincinnati Bengals, earning a Pro Bowl selection in 1974. Transitioning to coaching, Jauron led the Chicago Bears and Buffalo Bills, and was named the AP NFL Head Coach of the Year in 2001 after guiding the Bears to a 13-3 season.

Reflecting on Jauron’s passing, former NFL quarterback Brett Favre shared his condolences, stating, “I had the pleasure of knowing Dick while he was a coach on Holmgren’s staff. Dick was a first-class person. One of the nicest people you could ever meet.” Favre’s sentiments echo the respect and admiration many in the football community had for Jauron, remembering him not only for his professional achievements but also for his character and kindness.
