“We’re like elephants, we don’t forget anything.” Well, Joey Logano said these words after the 2025 All-Star Race. Can you believe that? ‘Sliced Bread’ is one of the infamously polarizing individuals of the sport. Go to YouTube, and anyone can watch Logano’s confrontations with stars like Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, and so many others. So when Christopher Bell got a little aggressive in the pursuit of a million-dollar prize, Logano’s reaction was a little surprising.
The 2025 NASCAR All-Star Race unfolded recently, with Christopher Bell displaying aplomb. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver won the second heat race, executing an effective pit strategy. He resorted to the same plan during the final race and beat Joey Logano – and regretted nothing about his actions.
Christopher Bell calls out his rival’s rant
“I was going to show him what fair was, just couldn’t get there with the tires.” Joey Logano was visibly irate after failing to defend his 2024 glory. The Team Penske driver led for 139 of the scheduled 250 laps, but Christopher Bell was a thorn in his path throughout. Marcus Smith, Speedway Motorsports CEO, threw the competition caution on lap 101. That was when Bell executed his proven strategy by taking two tires, while Logano stayed out. That eventually allowed Bell to topple Logano’s lead with 10 laps to go and charge for the victory. What is more, Bell got a little aggressive, diving low and forcing Logano up the track. The combination of these events eventually robbed Logano of his winning chances and also his peace. “I’m glad you had a blast, I’m p—ed off right now. Dang it,” he exclaimed.
However, his rival would have none of that. Considering Joey Logano’s checkered history of causing a ruckus, like his aggressive stunts at the 2024 Richmond race or wearing webbed gloves in Atlanta, Christopher Bell did not regard his own antics as over the line. What is more, even Logano resorted to aggressive blocks to prevent Bell from passing him. In a post-race interview, Bell let his disbelief become apparent: “Joey was frustrated. He was frustrated? That is interesting. I genuinely would not have guessed that. Well, I had got to him a couple of times before. And he made it difficult on me as he should. I got my run, and I took the moment as I should. I don’t think I did anything that Joey has not done, and I’ve seen Joey do far worse.”

This response clarified Christopher Bell’s stance. He is an otherwise humble driver who acknowledged his pit crew’s contributions with a noble salute: “I’m nothing without them.” But when it comes to asserting himself, Bell takes a strong stand. In fact, the JGR star gives the utmost importance to receiving respect. He said after the All-Star Race, “All of my competitors respect me, or I feel respected by them. You know the garage members, the mechanics, the crew chiefs. I do feel well respected throughout the industry. I’m not a flamboyant person, so I’ll probably never get the press that some of the bigger characters get, but that’s not me. I’m a race car driver.”
This headstrong approach probably adds an extra dash of brilliance to Christopher Bell’s resume. What is more, this is hardly the first time that Bell has beaten Logano so spectacularly.
Seeing only the victory
Well, Christopher Bell fetched his first All-Star Race win in 2025. Joey Logano, on the other hand, already owned two of the million-dollar trophies. Back in 2021, Bell fetched his first Cup Series victory -a and interestingly, Logano was again the rival he beat. During that 70-lap race at the Daytona road course, Bell took advantage of two cautions and started 8th on the final restart. Logano got the lead initially due to changing his tires and also because Bell made contact with Kyle Busch’s car. However, Bell slowly cut down the gap between him and Logano. Then he drove around the outside of Logano at the front-stretch chicane, located on the exit of the oval’s Turn 4. Following that, he eased away to claim his first at Cup level by 2.119s.
Joey Logano was not happy back then either: “I hate being that close.” Quite like the 2025 All-Star Race, Christopher Bell had brushed off his rival’s frustration and focused on his glory. His first victory came in his first full-time season with JGR. Bell said in 2021: “This is one of the highlights of my life. I’ve prepared my whole life for this moment to race in the Cup Series. Last year was such a learning curve for me. I’m very grateful that I got the opportunity to run in Cup and it definitely prepared me to go to Joe Gibbs Racing.”
Christopher Bell has come a long way since tasting that first victory. Now, the No. 20 driver regularly competes for wins, even if it means costing his rival’s happiness.
