Troy Aikman may be a Dallas Cowboys legend with Super Bowl rings, Pro Bowl nods, and a career fans still talk about. But for him, none of that even comes close to what truly matters. Sure, he lived out his dream, played for Dallas, and now calls games on ESPN. But when he looks at his life, it’s not the touchdowns or the spotlight he’s most proud of. It’s his kids. Because that’s what is important for him, as he said earlier, “I’ve been fortunate enough to fulfill some dreams and play for the Cowboys and win Super Bowls. And now I have this amazing job with ESPN, but at the end of the day, our legacies are told by our kids.” So, he’s making sure to be with his loved ones this spring.
Troy Aikman once said that at the end of the day, what truly matters is the kind of father you were. And for him, that title tops everything else. On Thursday, the NFL legend celebrated a proud dad moment. His youngest daughter, Alexa (Ally) Marie Aikman, whom he shares with his wife, Rhonda Worthey, kicked off her graduation weekend.
Aikman marked it with a sweet Instagram story, standing beside Ally in front of a lush green backdrop at what looked like an evening graduation dinner. Dressed sharp in a black suit and white shirt, Aikman looked every bit the proud father. Ally, on the other hand, stunned everyone in a floral off-shoulder dress. Celebrating the moment, the color commentator of Monday Night Football captioned it simply, “Graduation weekend begins for my baby girl Ally (red heart emoji).” Honestly, that said it all!
Watching your child step into a new chapter is a big deal, and Troy Aikman showed up just like any dad would, full of pride and love. His journey through fatherhood, especially raising his daughters Jordan and Ally, shaped him far beyond football.
In a past interview, an ex-Cowboys player opened up about learning how to parent as a single dad, saying he wanted to raise girls who knew exactly how they deserved to be treated. And now, seeing his girls grow into strong, confident women, it’s clear, this is the legacy he’s most proud of. But his pride didn’t end here, as another member of his family allowed him to smile the whole day.
Troy Aikman has a new lawyer in the family!
Troy Aikman’s story started with football, but it runs deeper than the game. His dad, tough and proud, pushed him toward the sport because he loved the grit. So, Troy traded baseball and basketball for a helmet in eighth grade-and that choice shaped his future. But Troy wasn’t the only dreamer in the family. His sister, Tammy Powell, had a heart for helping. She became a nurse, started working at St. Anthony Hospital in ’88, and eventually became CEO.
When the Oklahoma City bombing shook the country in 1995, she was just five blocks away. But instead of running from it, she and her team ran toward the chaos, ready to help. That kind of courage runs in the family. Now, Tammy’s son and Troy’s nephew, Reid Powell, is following his own path.
On May 10, he graduated from OU Law and shared a proud photo with his parents. But before he could even post it, Uncle Troy did. Beaming with pride, Troy Aikman wrote, “Couldn’t be more proud of my nephew Reid for graduating from OU Law. We finally have a lawyer in the family, which means I might actually start saving money on legal fees. Congrats, counselor!” So, yeah, Reid’s stepping into civil litigation now, and knowing where he comes from, he’ll show up with the same heart, just in a suit and tie.
