Jason Kelce Upsets America With Strong Opinion Amid Weight Loss Journey

Y’all must have seen those videos of people traveling with pets on planes. It could be a dog or a cat. Or even an iguana. And these videos are spreading among pet owners, who want to enjoy the thrill of flying with their lovely small companions. And we agree, sometimes you have to. What if you are changing cities or moving somewhere for a long time? You can’t leave them behind. But what started off as a small requirement for many is slowly becoming a trend. And just like many who love this, many don’t. And there are yet others who just hate it. NFL legend Jason Kelce is among them.

Michelle Smallmon interviewed him for Disney Upfront on May 15, where he upset America with his strong opinion about people traveling with their dogs. He first said, “I don’t like dogs on planes. I know it’s gonna upset so many people. I love dogs. (But) I feel like there’s some level of etiquette to plane travel that’s being breached here.” He then reminisced about the small dogs, like Yorkies, that were the first to travel. But the people nowadays sometimes travel even with a Great Dane.

Adding to his logic behind his stance, Jason Kelce added, “Maybe someone is allergic. Maybe someone is anxious around dogs. I don’t know how it got into this.” According to American Airlines, they actively check if the pets fit in the strollers. And in case they are too big to travel in the cabin, they must travel with American Airlines cargo.

Jason Kelce is a big-time dog lover, too, particularly Irish Hounds. In March this year, he mourned the death of his dog Baloo. He then adopted a puppy named Nessie, who is often seen on his New Heights podcast. But despite all the love he has for the dogs, he doesn’t like them on flights.

However, pet owners are also becoming savvy and resourceful. A survey by Trusted Housesitters revealed that 16% of pet owners spend more on their pets on flights. While 57% of owners plan vacations around pet-friendly accommodations, 16% travel less since getting a pet. 22% of pet owners plan a road trip instead of taking flights. So, there are mixed feelings on this topic among people who have pets.

Among all this, the elder Kelce brother is also getting slimmer. And America can’t help but notice this.

Jason Kelce slims down to stay in good health

At his peak in the NFL, the Eagles legend stood 6-foot-3 tall at 295 lbs. But after retiring in March last year, he announced his plans to shed some extra pounds. That’s fine. He doesn’t have to pull out those pro-level tackles now. During an episode of the New Heights podcast in March last year, he said, “I’m gonna slim down. My goal is 250 lbs.

However, after years of being a monster, it gets hard to keep up the energy levels when you lose some pounds. That’s what Jason Kelce said a few days ago, “I don’t know if it’s the moment you retire mentally, your body retires too, physically, because I am just (struggling). I’m trying to lift weights. I keep straining muscles.” Currently around 270 lbs, he has lost 25 lbs. The goal now is to lose 20 pounds more.

While 295 lbs was his highest official weight, he also crossed the 300 lbs barrier during the offseason. So, it’s not going to be easy when he’s been around 300 lbs for most of his life. Even during the 2011 draft, he weighed 280 lbs. So, he’s trying to change the mark he has maintained for more than 15 years now. It’s a tough yet inspiring journey!
