Frances Tiafoe is all hearts for his girlfriend Ayan Broomfield. The couple never shies away from expressing their love on social media. Whether it’s ringing in Tiafoe’s birthday or simply supporting him from the stands, they always serve major couple goals. And this time, it’s Tiafoe’s reaction to Broomfield’s latest vacation pictures that has fans swooning.
Broomfield recently shared snapshots from her trip to Isla Mujeres, a stunning island in Mexico. Dressed in eye-catching outfits, she posed against the breathtaking scenery, giving her followers a glimpse of paradise. But while fans admired the pictures, no one appreciated them more than Tiafoe. The American tennis star filled the comment section with red hearts, making it clear how smitten he was.
Tiafoe and Broomfield have been together since 2015. Their relationship started long before Tiafoe became one of the most recognized faces in tennis. The influencer was herself a tennis champ as she played and won the doubles 2019 NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Championship. So how did the couple meet? In an interview with Essence last year, Broomfield shared how they first connected.
“We both played junior tennis at a very high level. I’m from Canada, so I was playing for my country, Frances was playing for the States. And then one of our mutual friends was like, ‘Well, you guys actually would be really good friends.’ So we started talking then and became best friends for a bit. It’s been eight, nine years now. It’s been a journey,” she said.
Since then, Broomfield has been a constant presence in Tiafoe’s career, often seen cheering him on from the stands. But while his personal life is filled with love and support, Tiafoe’s performance on the court has been a different story this season.
A rocky start to the 2025 season for Frances Tiafoe
Frances Tiafoe has had some big moments in his career. He stunned one of the GOATS Rafael Nadal at the 2022 US Open, making it all the way to the semifinals. And then he replicated that run in 2024, performing under the bright lights of Flushing Meadows in New York. But outside of the US Open, his Grand Slam results have been less impressive.
Since 2023, the former World No.10 has struggled to make it past the third round in any major except the US Open. And so far, the 2025 season hasn’t given him much to celebrate either. He’s faced second-round exits in every tournament he’s played this year.
The American tennis star started the season at the Brisbane International, where he fell in the second round to Giovanni Mpetshi-Perricard. Then came the Australian Open, where the World No. 18 contested two tight five sets. He won in the first round against Arthur Rinderknech but was ousted by Hungarian tennis player Fábián Marozsán in the second round.
Most recently, on 7th February, Tiafoe suffered another setback at the Dallas Open. World No.67 Yoshihito Nishioka pulled off a major upset, sending the American star packing in the second round once again.
How does Broomfield help him deal with his losses? Well, the Canadian influencer’s background in tennis gives her a unique perspective when it comes to dealing with the highs and lows of Tiafoe’s journey.
In her Essence interview, she revealed,“I think for me, I’m blessed to have a tennis background. So when he’s going through things, we don’t just talk about it on the surface level like, ‘You can win next time.’ We’ll actually sit down and work together and break down what’s going on. And I think that’s something that is unique to our relationship is the ability to go deeper and the ability to actually talk about what it is that he’s doing well, what it is that he’s not doing well.
Tiafoe has proven he has the talent to compete with the best, but his recent struggles raise some questions. Can he turn things around and find his rhythm as the season progresses? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
