Bucks Star Breaks Silence on Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Future as Front Office’s Major Trade Plans Revealed

3 min read

It has been a forgettable season for the Milwaukee Bucks and their fans. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Co. entered this season with a lot of expectations, only for them to be disappointed in the end. The Bucks struggled during the start of the regular season, but then picked up momentum and even won the in-season NBA tournament. This led many to believe that the duo of Giannis and Damian Lillard might achieve what they are expected to: win the NBA championship. However, tragedy struck soon with Damian Lillard suffering a serious blood clotting issue that caused him to miss the final stretch of the regular season.

Soon, the Bucks’ point guard did return for their previous season’s re-match in the first round against the Indiana Pacers. This gave everyone hope that they might be able to get the better of the Pacers with Lillard and Giannis both fit, but that was not to be. Lillard tore his ACL, ending not only his season but also Milwaukee’s as the team crashed out yet again in the first round. Now, with Lillard set to miss a major portion of the next season, rumors about the Greek Freak’s trade have started to gain traction. Many also believe that Giannis himself might ask for a trade pretty soon. But his teammate has come out and cleared the air about Milwaukee’s franchise player.

While on FanDuel TV’s show ‘Run It Back‘, Bobby Portis Jr. revealed his thoughts on the rumors floating in and around the league. “Giannis bleeds green. I think he bleeds loyalty, I think he bleeds wanting that Tim Duncan, Kobe, type career, Steph Curry type career where they play with one franchise.” Portis Jr. said. Giannis’ teammate compared him with the likes of Stephen Curry, Kobe Bryant, and Tim Duncan, as he said that Antetokounmpo wants to play for one team for his entire career. Moreover, he also pointed out a huge problem for the teams looking to land the Milwaukee superstar. He believes that the forward’s massive salary will not attract a lot of teams.

Like, if you trade for him, just looking at business-wise, you trade for him, obviously, he’s going to make, what, 58-60 million dollars. I mean, you’ve got to trade your whole team, right? You’ve got to trade your whole team. You’ve got to trade your whole team. And then being able to get him, you know, you still have to put players around him to compete for a championship, right? So it’s like, whoever, if you do make a move, you might be in the same position that the Bucks are in.” Portis Jr. further emphasized.
