Joe Rogan Claims America Owes Elon Musk a “Huge Debt” for His $44B Decision

4 min read

On the 2316th edition of ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’, UFC’s legendary commentator and the host of ‘JRE’, Joe Rogan, talked about the state of Twitter/X before and after the $44B takeover executed by the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk. In his tone of relief and appraisal, as Rogan sat down with the runner Cameron Hanes, he only had good things to say about Musk.

The whole world knows about Elon Musk and Joe Rogan’s friendship. The Tesla founder has made multiple appearances on the ‘JRE’ podcast. And between them, the multi-faceted stand-up comedian and the new owner of X have created some of the most iconic and hilarious moments in the podcast’s history. Along with their hysterical moments together, Rogan has always been a loyal supporter of Musk’s expeditions and projects across various fields.

With a similar attitude, Joe Rogan said, “Twitter was complete nonsense. The whole thing was just a ‘PSYOP’. We all owe Elon Musk a huge debt when he bought Twitter.” Rogan explained how, before this acquisition, the platform X (now Twitter) had an ideological bias towards the left. The UFC commentator called the acquisition a very important cultural move in the modern era for free speech and open discourse in the U.S.A.

He further added: “He changed the conversations in the country because all of a sudden people were free, you were free to say whatever you wanted. Before, you couldn’t say anything bad about Biden, or the liberals, or COVID vaccines, or anything; you would be banned. You’d be banned.” Explaining how the acquisition was not just a business move but a move to preserve free speech and challenge the narrative of controlling authorities.

According to Elon Musk, the move was more based on the preservation of freedom of speech and less on the staggering $44B spent on the takeover. His buying price for Twitter was a subject of massive trolling on the internet with even Musk feeling that the acquisition was overpriced. Addressing this controversy, Musk said: “It was a crazy move, but if you don’t have freedom of speech, you don’t have a functioning democracy.”

With all that being said, it wasn’t just Joe Rogan who was impressed by Musk’s move. The acquisition generated quite a few reactions from the world of combat sports as well. Lets read further to find out.

Veterans react to $44B acquisition of Twitter (now X) by Elon Musk

Ranging from criticism to high praise, Elon Musk’s $44B acquisition had the whole world talking about the move, especially a close friend of both Musk and Rogan. The UFC CEO and President Dana White, while addressing his thoughts on the deal, said: “Elon is a superhero for buying Twitter. Where are we right now without Elon Musk? The fact that he would go in and spend the kind of money that he did to take this thing over is unbelievable.” White, often a subject of criticism by the ‘establishment media’ was delighted after the takeover, and his reasons were similar to those of Rogan’s.

A former UFC welterweight title challenger and veteran of the sport, Jake Shields‘ thoughts too, aligned with Rogan and White’s take on the move, as he said: “Never in history has there been a faster and more efficient way to share information than Twitter. This is why the elites are freaking out at the possibility of losing that control to Elon Musk.”

However, a UFC Featherweight in Bryce Mitchell is skeptical about Musk and the acquisition. ‘Thug Nasty’ has made a name for himself with his outright wild takes that have landed him trouble as well. Mitchell thinks Musk is a “rat b*stard” and a “false prophet” who is duping common folk.
