Unified super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez is minutes away from his undisputed showdown against IBF titleholder William Scull in Riyadh. If Canelo wins, which he is expected to do, he will become a two-time undisputed super middleweight champion. However, moments ahead of the bout, YouTube boxer Jake Paul shared a message for ‘Cinnamon.’
Paul and Canelo were in talks for a mega fight earlier this year, with the update gaining some serious momentum among fans. A lot of people criticized Canelo for taking a fight against Paul, who usually fights out-of-prime and aging opponents. Regardless, when Eddie Hearn was asked about his thoughts on the fight, he seemed optimistic.
In an interview with iFL TV, the Matchroom Boxing head, who has promoted Hearn in the past, revealed that he expected the Canelo-Paul fight to generate $200 million in revenue. “You’re looking at over $200 million in revenue for that fight. I think that fight generates $200 million if it does two million buys,” Hearn said.
However, later reports revealed that Canelo had left Paul in a tailspin with his next move. Instead of fighting ‘The Problem Child,’ Canelo instead signed a four-fight deal with His Excellency Turki Alalshikh to fight William Scull. This is expected to lead Canelo to a potential bout against two-weight undisputed champion Terence Crawford in a penciled-in date of September 13th later this year.

Regardless, ahead of tonight’s Canelo vs. Scull ‘Cinco de Mayo’ bout in Riyadh—marking Canelo’s first time doing business with Saudi Arabia—Jake Paul took a jab at the Mexican superstar with a nine-word message that could rattle his focus. “Nobody over there cares about cinnamon bun. Pussy cat,” Paul posted on X just hours ago.
In the meantime, it appears the potential Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford mega fight is gaining more momentum.
WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman wants Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford
WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman has thrown his support behind a potential super-fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford, calling it a “monumental” event. Speaking to Sky Sports, Sulaiman said, “Yes, this is what boxing is all about… If he’s successful, the fight with Crawford would be monumental.”

Canelo is set to face IBF champion William Scull this weekend in Saudi Arabia, where he aims to become undisputed super-middleweight champion once again. Sulaiman highlighted the cultural significance of the matchup, adding, “It would be a huge fight between the classic combination, Mexico against the USA.”
He praised both fighters, saying, “Crawford is, without a doubt, one of the top fighters in the world right now. Canelo is. It would be a monumental, huge event, without a doubt.”
Having said that, Jake Paul is clearly hoping Canelo Alvarez would lose the William Scull fight. However, Canelo has proven time and time again, he is a mountain only a few can scale. Do you have any last-minute predictions?
