For one of the most iconic golfers the world has ever seen, the sport opened up its door with a role of a caddie. So, Jim Dent stuck with sports for most of his life. However, for him, golf wasn’t his first love. Born in 1939, Dent started with football at Laney High School with fellow student Emerson Boozer, who went on to win a Super Bowl. Even though not as good as Boozer, he went on to claim a football scholarship from Paine College. A year later, he followed his dream of becoming a professional golfer. However, according to the most recent news, Jim Dent has passed away at the age of 85, and the golf world is in mourning.

The fans have flocked to the post of Golf Week, sharing this news. The post says, Jim Dent, one of the best Black golfers of his era, is dead at 85.” Under the post, one of the fans declared their sadness by saying, “Sorry to hear of the passing of Jim Dent.”
