The Super Bowl Victory Parade in Philly was extraordinary, as the city rejoiced in the moment of glory. Fans were over the moon, and one of them threw a beer can that hit the GM and EVP, Howie Roseman, on his forehead. Blood started oozing out of the cut, but he was pumped up and yelled, “I bleed for this city! Go Eagles!” His photos of smoking a cigar reinforced the fans’ love for their franchise. They knew one thing: Their team was in safe hands. Amid these celebrations, Jalen Hurts became the Superman of the city.
He also looked like a mafia boss in the parade, smoking a cigar. However, he has avenged his SB LVII loss against the Chiefs this year. And that has surely upped his stock among the NFL quarterbacks. J-Train revealed his preparation for the coming season by posting a photo from the gym and throwing a ball as well. The Eagles’ GM has full belief in his leader that they are coming on strong.
During the April 30 episode of The Rich Eisen Show, Roseman praised Jalen Hurts and said, “He’s here every day. He’s working extremely hard to continue to improve. And that’s really what we’re all trying to do here. We’re trying to get better, we understand that it’s hard to win championships in the NFL. We got to continue to find ways to find edges to compete at a championship level, and that’s the goal. To have that confetti fall on our head ‘cuz it’s a beautiful thing when that green and silver confetti it falls on your head. It’s like an amazing thing.“
The franchise has cut out the task for the signal caller. It is not going to be a simple task. The Chiefs are also aiming for a Revenge Tour this year after Travis Kelce returned to the franchise. Moreover, the Super Bowl LIX winner is dealing with naysayers. A few days back, his mother attacked the ex-NFLer Chase Daniel for calling him an 8,9, or 10 on the list of franchise quarterbacks.
All in all, Philly loves their champion. They believe he has everything they need to retain the trophy. However, the front office is also focused on preparing backups.
Eagles making plan for Jalen Hurts’ backup
GM Howie Roseman made many exchanges during the draft to sign the best players for the franchise. One of them includes the 6th round selection (181st overall), Syracuse QB Kyle McCord. The 6-foot-3, 218 lbs college player impressed everyone with his 22-4 win-loss record. It’s surprising that other teams slept on him. But the Eagles are happy after signing him as Jalen Hurts’ backup.
While praising the college QB, GM added, “He’s a really quick processor. The ball comes out fast, with anticipation and accuracy. He was the leading passer in the NCAA. If you look at his games this year, his performance has been unbelievable — he’s throwing the ball all over the field. We know him well — a St. Joe’s Prep graduate and a three-time state champion in high school. He was the top-ranked, five-star recruit in the country.”
They also have a 25-year-old QB, Tanner McKee, drafted in the 6th round (188th overall). He played only 2 games last year, ending with a 1-0 win-loss record. But gave impressive returns with 4 touchdowns. Similarly, McCord also returned a wonderful 61-20 TD-int ratio. All these things have filled the franchise with confidence.
To sum it all up, Roseman’s words are enough: “We’re fortunate to have the Super Bowl MVP as our starting quarterback. Behind him, we have a young and talented quarterback room.” Their rivals are watching. It’s going to be exciting.
