Soon After Conor McGregor, Merab, Bo Nickal, and Others Share Graphic Details to Predict Their Fate in 100 Men vs. 1 Gorilla Challenge

6 min read

What happens when humans go up against primal strength? That’s the question that’s taken over the internet like wildfire. The challenge: 100 men versus one gorilla. No weapons. Just pure unarmed chaos. It started as a wild hypothetical on social media. But now? It’s an all-out war of words, with UFC fighters jumping in with wild strategies and bold predictions.

Even Conor McGregor, the man who sports a gorilla tattoo on his chest, had something to say as he wrote on X, “On behalf of gorillas, I’d smoke a 100 easy.” So, who’s backing the humans? Who’s siding with the beast? Let’s take a look at what Bo Nickal, Merab Dvalishvili, Jamahal Hill, and others had to say about this scenario!

Bo Nickal, Merab Dvalishvili, and others lay out their tactics and strategy for the 100 Men vs 1 Gorilla challenge

In a video uploaded on Instagram by the UFC, Merab Dvalishvili appeared to be firmly in the camp of the humans!  “One gorilla? It’s easy, bro. “I’m smart. I’m strong. Training every day. You think I cannot take one gorilla?” he claimed confidently.

Not only is the bantamweight champion ready, but he’s also got a plan. One that involves shedding layers like a scene out of a gladiator flick. ‘The Machine’ began taking off his clothes in the video as he stated, “I’m gonna take my t-shirts off, my pants off. Don’t worry. Don’t worry,”. So, what’s the strategy?

Dvalishvili revealed his plan is to utilize his wrestling, as he demonstrated taking the gorilla down. But when told the animal weighs around 600 pounds, he paused for a second, before revealing, “600 pounds. Maybe inside trip…”

Bo Nickal, the wrestling prodigy, took a slightly more calculated approach. He didn’t just back 100 men. He backed himself as he revealed that “3 of me”, would be enough to get the job done! Nickal is gearing up to take on Reinier De Ridder at UFC on ESPN 67 next, so his confidence bodes well for his upcoming fight. But against a gorilla? He might have to re-evaluate his tactics against an opponent who could bench press him with just one hand!

In fact, Jamahal Hill wasn’t so quick to dismiss the danger. He questioned the premise itself with a sharp edge of realism as he asked, “Are you saying the humans have no weapons? No weapons, just hands?”. Then came the coldest line in the entire video as he pointed out, “You had a .22 and you shot a gorilla… that’s not gonna do s— but p—- it off. Right? So what the f—- are your fist and your feet gonna do?”

It’s a wake-up call in a sea of overconfidence. Hill saw through the hype—and he wasn’t sold. Former flyweight king Brandon Moreno added some comic relief, brushing off the challenge like it was a warmup round. “100 men?” he repeated, almost laughing. “Yeah. Easy.” Then he took it further as he cheekily added, “Me alone.”

Mikey Musumeci, the grappling wizard, on the other hand, brought structure to the madness. He agreed humans win—but at a cost. “100%, a hundred men can take down a silverback gorilla. What we’re gonna do is, though, we’re gonna sacrifice a few of them.” It’s the first cold-blooded strategy: human wave tactics. Let a few go down to wear the beast out. Then swarm from all sides.

Then there’s Punahele Soriano. If anyone had the most cinematic vision, it was the welterweight knockout artist. He described the opening wave like a scene from a horror movie, “I picture the gorilla just like smush—just like their heads in a row just like (imitates gorilla).” No plan. Just carnage.

It’s funny. It’s brutal. And it might not be far off. From Bo Nickal’s confidence in his ‘clone trio’ to Jamahal Hill’s brutal reality check, the debate shows no signs of slowing. While Merab Dvalishvili might be planning on taking on the beast in his natural element, no clothes, just his endless gas tank and grappling against the gorilla’s eye-popping strength, let’s take a look at what some experts had to say about the debate!

Scientists come out with a bold claim about humans’ chances against a gorilla

So, who really wins in this wild brawl—100 men or a gorilla built like a freight train? Enter the experts. Tara Stoinski, a 20-year veteran in gorilla science and president of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, didn’t flinch when asked. According to her interview with USA TODAY, “[I think] in terms of kind of being able to prolong a battle that could eventually wear a gorilla out, and our, you know, our ability to really cooperate and coordinate, I think those two elements kind of work against a gorilla’s favor”

Even though Bo Nickal might think only 3 of himself would be enough, he’s got the right idea. Why? Because, unlike gorillas, we’re wired for teamwork. Tactics. Strategy. And even a slight numbers advantage could be the difference maker, let alone a 1 vs 100 handicap for the gorilla.

But don’t mistake her words as downplaying the gorilla’s power. These creatures are strong, just maybe not comic-book strong. “I’ve seen in some places, ‘Oh, they’re 25 times stronger than a human being. I’ve just seen these numbers that I don’t know if they’re based in reality.” Stoinski further shared.

Here’s where it gets more interesting. A gorilla fighting off a crowd? It might dominate for a while. But as Stoinski pointed out, “You can have people attacking them from the back. They can take turns, so their endurance is going to be a lot longer.”

So, after all the jokes, bravado, and cage-ready strategies, who takes the crown in this battle of brawn vs. brain? If we listen to the scientists, the answer leans toward humanity, not because of brute strength, but because of what makes us uniquely human: cooperation.

While its fun to imagine Bo Nickal cloning himself into a wrestling hydra. Or picture Jamahal Hill throwing hands in a hopeless last stand. In the end, this debate shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon! Which camp are you aligned with? Humans or the gorilla? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
