The Cardinals are on the move. Even after signing seven draft prospects, they aren’t resting. Their QB, Kyler Murray, had 11 interceptions and 30 sacks in the 2024 season. Well, this performance was better than Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts in this regard. And the main hero behind this success? Well, HC Jonathan Gannon is making sure that their QB remains protected.
In the 2025 NFL draft, the Cardinals selected one offensive weapon to help out the Cardinals’ #1, apart from six defensive additions. It was a bit shocking to see how Gannon picked a strong defensive squad and added only one offensive weapon. Looks like a mis-balanced roster? Well, we wouldn’t say this after hearing the news update.
NFL analyst Alex Clancy, who covers the happenings in Arizona’s football on his podcast, reported, “At this point, it’s only rational to think Will Hernandez is going to re-sign with the Arizona Cardinals and jump into that RG spot when fully healthy.” Well, it could be a rumor, but there is a high chance the Cardinals could add Will Hernandez, who has career earnings of $18,000,000.

Currently a free agent, Hernandez had signed his last contract with the Cardinals in 2023. It was a two-year, $9,000,000 contract that ended in 2024. In these two years, Hernandez showed better performance in keeping the Cardinals’ QBs intact. His qualities lie in guarding the QB at any cost. In the 2024 season, Hernandez took 280 snaps, for which he ranks 78th in the league, and suffered two penalties. And one of the great statistics about his 2024 performance is that he didn’t allow a single sack to his QB.
But, despite a good showcase of his performance, Kyler Murray’s team ended their 2024 season with only eight wins. And with the season, Hernandez also lost contact with the franchise, as it was his last year with the Cardinals. However, there are enough rumors that say Kyler may get Will Hernandez’s protection for another season, as the talk about the guards re-signing is under the pipeline. Alright. Let’s see if the rumors become true.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals are in talks to sign two free agents to the team, per reports. Are they from the 2025 draft or the free agency? Let’s see.
Kyler Murray’s Cardinals are in discussion to add two more free agents
Recently, the Arizona Cardinals GM, Monti Ossenfort, was in talks with the podcast Wolf and Luke. In that podcast, when the host asked the Cardinals GM about Kyzir White and Will Hernandez, he said, “Yeah, we keep a line of communication open with a lot of players. That’s constant checking in and seeing where everybody is. Those are the conversations that continue to take place.” Yes, these two players are Will Hernandez and Kyzir White. And after talking some diplomatic stuff, the GM added, talking specifically about these two.

He also added, “Those two guys are still free agents. They may have opportunities too. So, I keep those lines of communication open. And continue to do. And if there is a fit for adding our roster, we won’t hesitate to do it.” We all know about Hernandez, but to talk about Kyzir White, the 29-year-old linebacker, he ended his two-year $10,000,000 contract with the Cardinals at the end of the 2024 season.
As GM also mentioned, and the rumors and told, there is a high chance Kyler Murray’s team may re-sign Kyzir White along with Hernandez. In the 2024 season, Kyzir has made 60 solo tackles and sacked 2.5 QBs. Quite impressive, right? Let’s see if the Cardinals make a new contract with Kyzir and also with Will Hernandez.
